video editing software portable image
Q. I have a laptop, Aspire 5532 to be exact, Iâve struggled through the choppy editing of Windows Movie Maker. I hate it, and now I have 50 dollars to spend on editing software, any ideas of the best one? I really want iMovie and would be willing to splurge the extra cash, but Iâve heard that itâs only for Mac? Is this true? Iâd love to hear your experiences with different soft wares, and any help you can give!
Thanks!
Thanks!

I've bought hundreds of dollars worth of proprietary video editors and they all sucked. They have tons of bells and whistles, but can't do basic things like seek easily and conveniently etc.
I now use Virtualdub and Avisynth, and sometimes Avidemux. For format conversions I use Xmediarecode. For codecs I use Klite Mega Codec Pack. Been using them for years. All free downloads. You can get all of them as portable versions for your flashdrive, except the codecs.
There's a ton of other good related software for doing everything from burning video DVD's to backing up your movies to hard drive.
A good place to start would be

I am going to ask for a video camera, editing software, and accessories for Christmas, any suggestions?
A R
I want the price to be around $500 total. I would like the feature to be able to add things to the video (like star wars lasers and such), so take that into consideration. If you have any suggestions, cameras, editing software, or accessories, your suggestion will be considered.
