video editing software sony image
Katelin
I want to purchase video editing software from sony Vegas and can't figure out which one to get. Can someone list the current versions from the best version down to the lowest? Or explain the difference between them?
Thanks :)
Answer
Sony Vegas Movie Studio has less functions than Pro.. it is simply the consumer version of Sony Vegas Pro! Vegas Pro offers far more in terms of professional features, but costs around $500 more..

For a complete comparison you better look at this table

and this is a very useful 2010 top10 table if you like

Anyways, I use Sony Vegas Pro 9

Answer
If you want true editing apps, go with Premiere, Final Cut, Avid. Premiere has an entry-level app "Elements"/ Final Cut does not nor does Avid. They have Express labled apps but they are not entry-level. That is not to say you can't take the leap but it will require a lot of reading and trial and error on your part. It's worth it in the long run. If you want to be able to do whatever you can think of, you need to start moving in this direction and away from the free ones. It'll cost you in several ways but it's worth it.
