best laptop for video editing yahoo image

I currently am using a Dell XPS 3.6 ghz, 1GB RAM, 250GB HD running a consumer version of Avid called Pinnacle Studio (v10 Plus). Problem is this is my "everything" computer (Internet, MP3s, documents, spreadsheets) so it bogs down when I try to do relatively simple video editing projects. I want a dedicated, reliable, powerful yet somewhat inexpensive system that has a small footprint. Considering a MacBook with Final Cut Pro but that could get a bit pricey.

You may want to re-consider using a laptop for that task. Usually laptops can't handle huge video/image file editing, you may want to use a desktop. The reason being is that desktops can handle more power. Don't go with a brand name computer, buy a clone computer that is upgradable. You can select every peripheral at a time, this way you an optimize every component. You do need to go with brand name parts, such as Intel, WesterDigital, ATI and so on. Hi! I asked this question a few weeks ago, but some how it got deleted. My mom said that she would get my sister and I each a laptop for Christmas that is under $500, but we just need to pick one up. I need help finding one that is good for me. I know it is a lot to ask, but I need a laptop under $500 that can do these things well:
Browsing Internet
Video editing (for YouTube)
Music
Word documents
Photos
