I'm looking to buy a new laptop and I haven't used anything but Mac for over three years. I know Toshiba makes a decent laptop but what about these Samsung laptops? What are the top PC brands for laptops these days? I do a lot of video editing (hobby) so I need at least 6GB Memory to handle HD video. I have a 2TB external Hard Drive so the hard drive space on the computer doesn't need to be enormous. Any suggestions and links?
Not looking to spend more than like $800 for a laptop.

I found some and you can choose any one from these. I would recommend getting you HP Pavilion DV8 but I guess HP aren't making laptops anymore(rumor). Toshiba laptops are okay but the model of most of those looks pale and almost same. I don't have any experience with Samsung Laptop so I have no idea about it. However my friend has some Samsung Netbook and it is working flawless since a year. Asus laptops are #1 selling on most of the countries according to the internet and provided data from the sellers. They also make awesome ones. My wife has Asus Republic Of Gamers laptop and it can handle any games and applications along with multitasking without any lag.

How Do I Get Rid Of The Sweet Packs Virus On My Laptop?

I had installed something about four or five days ago...I don't even remember what it was; (I think it was audio or video editing software) and I went through all the usual processes. I unchecked all the boxes of third party programs that were stuck in with the original programs. But I think I had missed one. Now I'm stuck with this random program called SweetPacks. It looked really suspicious, so I automatically deleted it in my Add/Remove list. What I didn't realize, however, was that there are a ton of parts to this program. There was a toolbar, a thing called Sweet IM, and if I tried to open a new tab in FireFox, it wouldn't give me a blank screen like normal. It would take me to this weird version of Bing that looks like Google with a weird advertisement underneath of it. I've tried to do all I can to remove this messed up program, but have had no luck. I've tried Add/Remove, but it doesn't display any SweetPacks info in the list (maybe I killed a little bit of it?) I tried going to the extensions menu in FireFox, but that just shows my virus protection. I scanned my computer for viruses, and it just came up with cookies that needed to be deleted. I also tried System Restore but it didn't complete, I installed Malware Bytes, it didn't detect it, I tried deleting the programs that could've possibly carried it, it didn't work, I have no idea what to do. This laptop is brand new. Please help!

I currently am using a Dell XPS 3.6 ghz, 1GB RAM, 250GB HD running a consumer version of Avid called Pinnacle Studio (v10 Plus). Problem is this is my "everything" computer (Internet, MP3s, documents, spreadsheets) so it bogs down when I try to do relatively simple video editing projects. I want a dedicated, reliable, powerful yet somewhat inexpensive system that has a small footprint. Considering a MacBook with Final Cut Pro but that could get a bit pricey.

You may want to re-consider using a laptop for that task. Usually laptops can't handle huge video/image file editing, you may want to use a desktop. The reason being is that desktops can handle more power. Don't go with a brand name computer, buy a clone computer that is upgradable. You can select every peripheral at a time, this way you an optimize every component. You do need to go with brand name parts, such as Intel, WesterDigital, ATI and so on.
