For video/movie editing, which laptop is the best?

Pumpkin

Acer,Mac,Dell,or Vaio(or any other)
is the most suitable and optimized for video editting??

Answer
Mac Book Pro. I'm a PC user, and at work, all video, audio (everything audio is best, too bad for me!), and art production is done on Apple. I've heard that because the Apple name was used for computers, there had to be a rule that it was cutting edge for musical production (since the Beatles' label was Apple). Might be a rumor, but.... Everyone makes fun of me because I still use a PC, and my laptop is a HP. The Mac Book Pro 13 inch screen was voted number 3 best laptop in the Consumer Reports June 2011 issue (the Mac Book Air was number one, the Toshiba Protege was number 2), and performance was outstanding. Granted, the thing that I like about PC is the amount of available software, and the options. Macs give you less options, and a lot less software, but some people like it that way. If you decide to go with PC, there are good programs that can handle video editting, but if you look at most studios, it's done with Macs. Good luck!

New laptop recommendation! (Or Desktop?)?

Basically what I'm looking for is a laptop that (if possible?) is no more than $1000, has lots of ram.. Minimum 8 gigs. (8 gigs of ram is really good right?) and lots of space.. 1 TB minimum would be amazing.

What I'm looking to do on it, is for it to be very very fast... basic video editing and music making. Very basic. Kinda like Apple's Garageband & Imovie. I'm also looking to be able to play some computer games like the Sims on my downtime or maybe even once in awhile get an emulator or like play Steam games or something.

I got a Macbook Pro in April 2011, and by now it's pretty much already crapped out. I guess that's the way it is with technology now, it doesn't last very long anymore with new devices and updates etc but I want it to last long as possible and be worthwhile. My macbook pro though at the time couldn't even play games well (as i'm sure everyone knows)

So yeah, a laptop that can do all that..

I saw this one:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olstemplatemapper.jsp?_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&_dynSessConf=65041470715126448&id=pcat17071&type=page&ks=960&st=categoryid%24pcmcat247400050000&sc=Global&cp=1&sp=-bestsellingsort+skuidsaas&qp=systemmemoryram_facet%3DRAM%7E8GB%5Ecurrentprice_facet%3DPrice%7E%24750+-+%24999.99%5Ecustomerreviews_facet%3DCustomer+Reviews%7ETop-Rated%5Eharddrivesizerange_facet%3DSAAS%7EHard+Drive+Size%7E1TB+-+1.9TB&list=y&usc=All+Categories&nrp=15&fs=saas&iht=n&seeAll=&browsedCategory=pcmcat247400050000&ref=199&loc=TnL5HPStwNw&siteID=TnL5HPStwNw-Ps10mrNHwq2YLQXNEWQHaQ

But not sure if it's actually that great.. Also for what I'm looking for does 8 gigs of ram sound okay?

PS: Someone suggested I might as well get a desktop.. Not sure though.

Thank you!

Answer
This is what you are looking for.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834313582

The i7 4700QM will be very fast and good for music editing and video editing and good for games
8gbs of ram which is what you wanted
1TB hard drive which is also what you want
a 745m graphic card for games

And it has an amazing price of 799$

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834231455

This one will do just as good for 650$
a weaker processor and graphic card but since your only playing games like sims its all you need

But if you plan to play Battlefield 4 and those type of games

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834313584

This will do better at 1049$

I am a high school student, and need office for my mac laptop; all I need is Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. I would really love to spend the minimum amount on it. What program would be the best for me to purchase? Thanks!

Answer
"all I need is Word, Excel, and Powerpoint."

Funny, because, well, that is Office. That is it, those three... unless you think you might need their groovy email app.

For a Mac OS system, you have these options:
â You can open and edit .DOC or .DOCX files in TextEdit. You can also create reasonably good .DOC files with TextEdit. It lacks some of the more exacting formatting options found in the other choices below.
â MS Office 2011 (for OS 10.5.8 or later). About US$130.
â Apple's Pages that is like Word, and Keynote that is like PowerPoint. Each US$19.99, click the App Store on the Dock.
â NeoOffice, newest version US$10, last year's version free. Some people use OpenOffice or LibreOffice, but they are lesser cousins to NeoOffice.
â http://Docs.google.com or other online office editors.

{NeoOffice is the direct Mac development of OpenOffice and LibreOffice, and thus has a better interface, smaller size, and better highlighting appearance. Most people learn about OpenOffice from PC use, but they don't know there is a better free version for OS X.}

COMPATIBILITY:
â MS Office 2011 can edit and save any office document.
â Apple's Pages / Keynote / Numbers (sold separately) can edit any .DOC / .PPT / .XLS document, and export as .DOC / .PPT / .XLS document, but can only view .DOCX / .PPTX / .XLSX documents and edit / export them as .DOC / .PPT / .XLS.
â NeoOffice can edit and export any Word document, but has the same limits as Keynote for PowerPoint documents.

Pages is similar in use to Word, except not as many oddities and hidden defaults that are hard to change. Keynote is similar to PowerPoint, except with much better transitions. Keynote has two limitations: it cannot apply a video to more than one slide, and it cannot apply an audio file (music) to more than one slide (except as background for the whole presentation). That's why I have both Apple's office apps and MS Office.

How can i get video footage in a youtube video?

DetectiveB

Just to be clear i know how to create a video on my camera and put it on youtube.. that is easy
BUT...
i want to know how can i like get for an example a a sample of a youtube video in my own video so i can put on youtube.. or maybe a sample of a DVD film playin from my laptop, how would i get that in a video created by me onto Youtube?

Answer
Use "Free Download Manager" to download videos from youtube and similar sites:
http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/

It integrates with any browser. When the add-on is installed, you'll see a small green 'Download with FDM' box appear when you hover your mouse pointer on the upper left hand corner of the video a few seconds after it starts to play.

You can download videos from streaming video sites like Youtube, Metacafe, Dailymotion, Veoh, Google Video, etc.

The video is saved in its native format but can be directly converted to other popular formats like MP4, MPG, AVI, WMV, FLV, and yes, even MP3.

As for DVD movies, rip the whole movie to your hard drive using this:
http://www.formatoz.com/

After getting all the videos you need, edit them on Windows Live Movie Maker 2011:
http://explore.live.com/windows-live-movie-maker

Finally, post your work to youtube.
