Movie Maker can do this ? but how to add shapes like arrow and circles ?

Answer
These all requirements of you are satisfied by Microsoft itself. You can download the Windows Movie Maker 2012. You can get it here :-
For both Windows 8 and Windows 7 :- http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows-live/movie-maker-get-started
For older versions of Windows go to here :- http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows/get-movie-maker-download
Why get an outside app when our family provides it? :)

Hope this helps :) BOLuck!!!

Sony Vegas 9 is good and comes in at about $55: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Vegas-Movie-Studio-9/dp/B001CPFWH8/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3?ie=UTF8&s=software&qid=1222218933&sr=8-3

If you can go to $79, think about getting the Platinum version: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Vegas-Movie-Studio-Platinum/dp/B001CPFWI2/ref=pd_cp_sw_2?pf_rd_p=433272301&pf_rd_s=center-41&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B001CPFWH8&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0B45B3T5K5C1GZ9WZX4C

Hope this helps!

Is there a difference in video quality when transferring tape from a camcorder to PC using Firewire vs. USB 2?

kmcgator

When you transfer a digital 8/hi 8 tape from a camcorder to PC, will the quality of the video on the PC (once transferred) be better if I use Firewire or USB 2.0 (or does it make no difference). I have both so if one is better than the other that is the one I would use. Don't care about speed, just video quality once on the PC.

Thanks.

Answer
Some facts:

If your camcorder allows DV AVI format transfers via USB2.0 (newer models only) then there will be zero difference between using this or DV / IEE1394 / Firewire / i.LINK. However, you may be required to use the manufacturer's software until the popular NLE editing software begins supporting USB2.0 transfers. And if your camcorder or software only allows a USB2.0 transfer in MPEG format then it will be of lower quality than a Firewire transfer.

And contrary to the claim of one poster, Digital 8 via Firewire is a digital transfer, not a capture, since it does both begin and end as digital data. Hi8 being played back through a D8 machine is both a capture and a transfer. The capture is done internally in the D8 machine and then transferred to PC via Firewire.
