video editing software question<10 points>?

Shivalik

Which is the best video editing software ? In which i can show special effect, subtitles and many more..

Answer
FileLab is a freeware video editing program for just about all platforms (Mac, PC, etc...). I use it a lot to make YouTube videos. It runs in your browser using a simple plug-in download. It has many transition and video effects, very good title editor, and customized color correction to include brightness, contrast, hue, saturation, and gamma. This tutorial on FileLab was made with FileLab
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYbAe-mUscs

VSDC is also freeware, but has much more advanced capabilities than FileLab, such as green screen! It's not as obvious or easy to use as FileLab, but did I already mention it has green screen (chroma key), and it's free? Also, it is capable of editing in most most popular video formats and compression schemes including high definition (HD), AVI, H.264, MP4, MKV, MTS, 3GP, WMV, QT, MP3, MPEG2 FLV, SWF. YouTube. Get it now while it's free because eventually this will go payware.

Free video editing software?

Bartosz

I have windows 8 and i a couple of months ago have started editing videos for magic/ cardistry videos. The problem is, that I have been using windows movie maker, because it is simple. I want something free, but a little more difficult to get used to because of the special effects (which obviously I want to learn to use). I cant find anything good right now, but maybe you guys know of some good ones. And by free i don't mean free trail.

Answer
Video Editing:

Lightworks; free alternative to Adobe Premiere and Sony Vegas.
http://lwks.com

Lightworks has been used in the movie industry for more than 20 years. Lightworks also has the fastest workflow in the industry.

Lightworks used to cost more than $1,000, but now Lightworks Pro costs $60/year and you can download a free version from their website.

Sony Vegas costs $600 and that's the same price as using Lightworks Pro for 10 years.

Editors using Lightworks have produced numerous internationally renowned and Oscar and Emmy award-winning feature films and television programs, including The King's Speech, The Departed, Mission Impossible, Braveheart, and Pulp Fiction.

And yes! Lightworks is FREE if you don't need pro video codecs and you can use the free version as long as you want.

Color Grading:

Use color grading to make the video "pop to life", to change the mood, or to make it look more like a movie or TV show.

DaVinci Resolve is the best color grading software in the industry.
http://blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve

You can download a FREE version of DaVinci Resolve from their website.

3D Animation and Visual Effects:

Blender; free alternative to Maya and After Effects.
http://blender.org

Blender has a complete VFX pipeline in one single software package. Blender has tools for modeling, sculpting, rigging, animation, rotoscoping, chroma keying (green screen), motion tracking, smoke, fire, and fluid simulation, particles, destruction, physics, color grading, node compositing, and video editing.

After Effects uses "layer-based" compositing. Blender uses "node-based" compositing similar to Nuke; used in the movie industry http://thefoundry.co.uk/products/nuke

Blender has more advanced features but After Effects is easier to use.

The easiest and most detailed tutorial on how to use Blender is Neal Hirsig's tutorial at http://gryllus.net/Blender/3D.html

Blender is 100% free with full functionality, no adware, no spyware, and no viruses, and you're allowed to use Blender in any production without having to pay for anything.

Getting closer to the end of my school year, I made a goal to start making videos on "YouTube". But I am stuck with crappy Windows Movie Maker, being only 13 I cannot afford paying $10+ a month. Does anyone know and video editing software that is free but IS NOT a trial?

Answer
Wax 2.0 is the best ever!!!!

Whats the best video editing software for rendering a video with 100% quality?

Kanak

I need the name of the video editing software which can render videos exactly the same quality as the source video file. It's not Adobe Premiere, because it takes almost a day to render a video of 30 minutes in uncompressed format. Besides the rendered file requires a huge space, for example, 10 GB.
So, have any suggestions?

Answer
You don't say if you are using HD or SD video, I'll assume you are using HD...

Anything that can handle the H.264 (MPEG) CODEC.

I have tried all sorts and this seems to be the best one so far. OK, I use Premiere Pro CS5, but even in that, out of all of them, for small size against quality, the H.264 one seems to be the way to go.
You can get better ones, but at the price of very large file sizes.

I am currently using adobe premiere elements 10, but it is really pissing me off because of how much it lags. I don't like iMovie because it doesn't have very good audio features. Is there a video editing software for Mac that is actually decent?

Answer
Final Cut Pro. Recently they took away a lot of features though and simplified it, kinda like iMovie. See if you can get an older version off the web or something. If you don't want to steal it, then buy the current version, then get the version you want off of torrent or something.

What is the best video editing software to use?

Jasmine

I do beauty videos on youtube and I need to know the best free video editing software that I can use. Something that is easy, but will make my videos look great (: Something that allows inserting images, subtitles, music, and allows me to delete unneeded clips. Please help??

(I've already tried windows movie maker and video pad editor)

Answer
I think FileLab would be best based on your description. Music and images can be inserted as overlays . You can resize the images and move them by right clicking on them in the timeline and selecting "Edit Overlay". FileLab has great title editor for your subtitles. And as FileLab is an editor program, you can easily delete unneeded clips. FileLab is presented as the second tutorial video in the following article:
http://ezvideoedit.blogspot.com/2012/10/joining-merging-splitting-cutting-and.html

and here are a few more tutorial videos on using FileLab. The first one shows you how to use the overlay function for your added images, music, or even overlayed video as shown:
