Need help with video editing with new camera?

I have:
Toshiba Laptop

Samsung HMX Q10 camcorder

SanDisk SD card

All this stuff is way over my head. So I need help, from tech savy people. I want to record video footage. take that footage and edit it(clean it up a bit and add text and sound). Put it on you tube.

I have tried to use intelli studio(program that comes with my camera, but when I play the footage in Intelli it lags and skips. I have 83GB free space, on my laptop, so I dont see why it would be slow. I cannot get windows movie maker to upload the videos. I heard stuff about converters, .mvi mp4's blah blah. Bottom line is, I'm lost and confused

Preferably I would like an editing program that is free forever (like windows movie maker), not free 30 day trial then buy.

Get the trial version of Ulead Video Studio, it has a 30-day trial version. OR get the trial of Cyberlink Power Director, they're very similar and the best today for editing videos. They are also very easy to use.

u can try simlest one- windows movie maker...go to start, all programs, accessories, microsoft movie maker....
if u want proffesional i suggest adobe premiere elements 7 .....u need to buy it or 30 day trial...http://www.adobe.com/products/premiereel/

Safe to download Sony Vegas from the Sony site?

Is it safe to download the free 30 day trial of one of Sony's Vegas video editing software? It's directly from the site, so it's legit but I was just curious if there's any possibility of getting a virus? I have a brand new computer and I'm really paranoid about getting viruses sooo.. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

don't listen to vito it is still possible to get viruses from ANY website. make sure you got a good anti virus like avast free 4.8 to protect your pc and you will be ok. i was doenloading a media player 2 hours ago from a well known billionaire company and the was a trojan in it which avast warned me about and got rid of the trojan for me. be careful and always use anti virus.
