decent laptop for video editing image
The Disint
I'm looking to buy a new laptop and I haven't used anything but Mac for over three years. I know Toshiba makes a decent laptop but what about these Samsung laptops? What are the top PC brands for laptops these days? I do a lot of video editing (hobby) so I need at least 6GB Memory to handle HD video. I have a 2TB external Hard Drive so the hard drive space on the computer doesn't need to be enormous. Any suggestions and links?
Not looking to spend more than like $800 for a laptop.

I found some and you can choose any one from these. I would recommend getting you HP Pavilion DV8 but I guess HP aren't making laptops anymore(rumor). Toshiba laptops are okay but the model of most of those looks pale and almost same. I don't have any experience with Samsung Laptop so I have no idea about it. However my friend has some Samsung Netbook and it is working flawless since a year. Asus laptops are #1 selling on most of the countries according to the internet and provided data from the sellers. They also make awesome ones. My wife has Asus Republic Of Gamers laptop and it can handle any games and applications along with multitasking without any lag.

What are the minimum computer requirements to edit gopro footage and HD videos with 1080p and some in 60fps?
David euro
If I was to go to newegg or bestbuy right now and buy myself a laptop, whats the cheapest that i could pay and still get a decent laptop for editing videos that it would be able to handle? My current computer sucks. Whenever i try to edit my footage the quality of the video goes down the drain. Like when viewing my footage it looks smooth and clear but whenever i try to make a compilation or just reduce video size on sony vegas the quality of the video goes down to very low. With technology changing very fast I'm sure I don't have to dish out a grand for a laptop capable of making gopro edits. If you guys can throw out some numbers and averages that would help. Thanks!
Answer
You need a good CPU for editing videos properly... Go for an i7 and at least 8gb of ram...
You can get 16GB too and use 8 as a RAM Disk.
To improve performance, get an SSD.
For editing videos, the CPU plays the biggest part...
Technology changes fast but you don't have to buy it every time it changes... wait until the performance boost makes a difference.
Now go check the prices, looking for an i7 if you can afford it, if not, look for an i5.
What Jello said isn't right.
Those specs are in order to Handle the video... to be able to play it... Editing and converting is a whole different thing.
Good luck!
