core i5 laptop for video editing image

All are Pre-Ovned BTW
So the first one is an Acer Aspire S3 with a Core i7, Intel HD graphics, 13 inch display, 20Gb SSD+500GB HDD W7 along with couple of programs (Microsoft Office 2010 Professional, Magix Web Designer 7 Premiuim, Magix Music Maker MX)
The other one is an Hp 15-B109EO Ultrabook Core i5, GT 630M (2GB), 32GB SSD+750GB HDD, W8
Then the last one is a mid 2012 13 inch macbook air.
I will be using it for college, mainly video editing, along with music and video editing. People say that Macs are the best for media edting, is that true? But which one suits my need the best? I'm swifting towards the HP, because of the powerful hardware, but which one should I choose?
Answer
Macs are better at media, mainly because of the OS and applications developed for them. However, the intel integrated graphics performance in the macbook air will be much inferior to the graphics of the HP. If you go with windows, I should choose the HP over the Acer.
The plus of the mac is that it will come preinstalled with good basic audio and video editors, (garageband and iMovie) and final cut is a good upgrade from that if you want to take the editing further. You may find rendering and things to be a little slow on the macbook air though :/
Windows is less media based, not really and decent programs preinstalled (windows movie maker sucks) But things like premier elements (adobe video editor) are good editors to buy if you do go with windows! the rendering will be quicker!

What kind of laptop processor should I get?

Hi i'm planning on buying a laptop but im not sure what processor i should buy, as there are many different ones. I will be using the laptop for browsing the internet and watching videos, recording, video editing in sony vegas (maybe) and playing some games (age of empires, zoo tycoon, hour of victory etc). So i was wondering do i just need a dual core? Or an i3? Should I get an intel or AMD?
Answer
From my experience, Intel processors will probably get you the most bang for your buck in the mid range. First off, dual core will definitely be helpful, particularly if you multitask; most processors are dual core these days, including the entire Intel "i" series. While an i3 will probably suffice, I can personally testify to how smoothly even recent games run on an i5; the turboboost of an i5, which is essentially an automatic overclocking when needed, is helpful. Of course, for both video editing and gaming, a dedicated graphics card is all but essential, and a lack thereof will bottleneck a laptop's performance regardless of processor.
