I want a really good video editing software thats free. Not one that you have to pay for but can get free with a keygen. I want a genuine free software thats both easy to use and can provide top of the line effects. It has to be free though.
P.S. I'm running windows vista

Check out trakAxPC Pro. It's a new editing suite that allows you to edit and mix any combination of audio, video and photos. You can do effects, text, split screen, reverse, slow-motion etc, plus upload your video directly to YouTube through the application. There is a free lite version and paid pro version available.

I use MPEG Video Wizard DVD, a great video editing program. It allows me to edit video, auto-detect and remove commercials, add effects (transitions and filters), fix a/v sync problems, make DVD discs and much much more.

Anyone know a good video editing software that's free? Preferably without some sort of keygen or trial time? Possibly some homebrew kind of software I can just download, set-up and use?

How about three very good freeware video editor programs, Freemake, FileLab, or VSDC? Each is safe, fully functioning, no watermarks, will not ask for money, and are recent releases that are HD capable.

They are listed in order of increasing capabilities. Freemake provides merging of video clips, and simple editing such as cutting and splicing. It will also automatically upload your video to YouTube if desired. It is also capable of converting your video to just about any video format in existence. FileLab has much more features, such as color correction, title editor, and special effects. FileLab also runs on both PC's and Macs (no-kidding)! VSDC is an advanced editor, capable of effects such as green screen editing. well most ones that are free aren't that good. but if you go to youtube and type in sony vegas pro 9 free download. You can use a keygen and get it for free

It's not really likely, though it is a little unethical to use a keygen. If you're just using Vegas to do non-professional homey stuff, I guess it's not so bad, but if you're using it to make/edit video or audio that you're going to sell, that's pretty unethical. As for if you'll get caught: probably not, and if you are, the software could be locked up, but not worse than that.
