If you have a Windows Computer.. then go for Adobe Premiere, if you have a MAC then go for Final Cut.

However, you must know that Video editing is different from Compositing, special effects, and those stuff.

If by any chance you can't buy Adobe Creative Suite (the whole thing)And you want to do video effects and stuff.. not just editing, then go get Sony Vegas, though directed towards amateur, it has most things for your needs.

But if you can buy Creative Suite.. then go for it as the whole thing works like a single piece of software and can beat Final Cut.
