Can Windows 8 run Windows 7 software programs or just apps from the Windows Store?

I'm thinking about upgrading to Windows 8 from 7, but I'm wondering if my video editing software, graphics programs, iTunes, and all that other stuff will be able to run in Windows 8. Also, does a preview/beta version of Office 2013 come with Windows 8, or a full version?

I need a video editing software that is somewhat easy to use. And also has a lot of feature. Like Sony Vegas, only just a little easier to use. But not like Windows Movie Maker, where it all around just sucks balls. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
