Do any of your know of some great FREE video editing software I could get?

Right now I have Windows Movie Maker and it is really slow and everytime I use it my computer freezes up.. I love the features on Windows Movie Maker, splicing videos together and adding effects and stuff like that. So yeah, I am looking for something like that but doesn't make my computer crash..

I would really appreciate any suggestions!

Which video editing software has the best effects?

I want to get a good video editing software, mainly for the effects (blood, gun shots, spaceships etc) but which is the best? I was thinking apple motion, sony vegas, adobe after effects but if you know of any others great!

After Effects probably can do the most.

I have Vegas Pro, and the effects aren't that great. You will want something to go with After Effects, I think, to edit once you have added the effects. If you can use Premiere Pro and After Effects, that might be your best option.
