the best laptop for video editing 2012 image
Russell
I am looking to wrap-up a failed LLC this year, but I am doing taxes for last year. The business was completely on location - shooting video and editing on a laptop on location. There were no expenses, except depreciation expense. It had only $95 of revenue in 2012. As I am working through these IRS forms for claiming depreciation expenses, I am wondering if I HAVE to claim them with the time I'm spending on the taxes and the revenue levels that I had. I'd be willing to pay $95 of taxes just to get this nightmare over with. Arghhh!!!
Answer
You aren't required to claim the depreciation expense, but you are required to reduce your basis by the amount of depreciation you would have been allowed if you had claimed it.

Is a Macbook Air 2012 a decent laptop for uni?
Donovan
I am starting uni next year and i want to save for a laptop. I am fairly set on a macbook of some sort and the Air looks especially appealing. I am taking a multimedia course so i will be doing video editing and production, animation, web design, photoshopping, etc. I have some friends who say it is powerful enough for all that and some others who say either get macbook pro or go for a windows one. Which do you guys think i should get?
Answer
Hello!
Well, the answer is simple.
If you require to do Power Intensive Jobs, the answer is Macbook Pro.
Requirements like video editing, production, animation, etc would be well tackled by Pro than Air.
However, I presume for uni and everyday use, Air being light weight would be easy to carry.
I suggest you buy Macbook Pro.
