I was wondering if someone could tell me a good video editing software for making awesome effects and transitions for video game footage, kinda like this:

It's basically 2D animation, in a 3D like environment, which can be done fairly easily in Apple Motion and After effects.
(The intro segments in that video you showed)

You would have a harder time doing it in an regular editing application whether it's Avid, Premiere or Final cut, because of how several elements move in sync in various angles and directions.
So unless you want to spend a lot of time on it in a regular editing prog, you can work with more parameters - like paths for groups of objects - in After Effects, and some in Apple Motion.
