Should I get a Windows laptop for video-editing?

I have a MacBook Pro,but I don't know how to use BootCamp for Windows programs (I don't know what to do or what I need - like do I have to backup my MacBook or anything like that?). I'm still trying to find some sort of walk through on how to do it though (I know that I can just use iMovie, but its too complicated for me and I used Sony Vegas Pro 8 and it was sooo easy and I want to use it again).

So I was thinking about just going out and buying a cheap, but good Windows laptop so I can use some of the Windows-only programs. But then again,I would be wasting money and my time going out and buying a laptop when I already have one . . .

What do you think I should do?

Answer
boot camp is pretty simple.

you do not need to back up your mac (the data wont be touched). boot camp makes a separate partition (splits your hard disk in 2), and one is for windows, the other is for mac. you will need a windows install disk though.

this walk through should help: http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/windows-classic-linux-other-os/118720-guide-winxp-via-bootcamp-walkthrough.html

How can i edit a video like this?

is this possible to do with windows movie maker? if not could you name a free editting software for me to try out?
i basically just want to be able to have several videos on the screen at the same time along with the audio.

Answer
My laptop doesn't want to load the video, so I can't comment.

but if you want effects for Windows Movie Maker... well it depends on teh version.

2.6 you can download effects for from here (might take a bit of searching to find the 2.6 thread) http://www.windowsmoviemakers.net/Forums/Default.aspx

6.0 Movie Maker effects can be downloaded from http://movies.blainesville.com/ and http://www.windowsmoviemakers.net/Forums/Default.aspx (need to find the Vista 6.0 thread. effects will work on Windows 7) and here http://www.rehanfx.org/shader.htm
--If you have Windows 7 but not movie maker 6.0 you can download it from here http://movies.blainesville.com/p/wmm-60-on-windows-7.html

If you ahve Windows Live Movie Maker... then you're majorly screwed as it sucks at editing, and I reccomend downloading Windows Movie Maker 6.0 Also you might need to download a codec pack so you can use different video formats, or a video converter (dvdvideosoft has an ok one) so they're compatible with Windows Movie Maker (video quality might end up being crap though)

There's a limit to what you cna do with it, but it got me through a vidoe project for college.

the RehanTFX plugin can be helpful with what you're looking for... I think it has Picture in Picture (split screen, one video one side, one the other) if not you can probably find it on teh forums website. You can use Picture in picture for one bit, publish video. Do another video, picture in picture, publish it, a new movie maker thingy, then you can use the two previously published picture in picture/splitscreen/whatever-you-wanna-call-it, in ANOTHER picture in picture, so you can have 4 videos on screen at the same time. Sorry if this is confusing.

Hope this helps :)
