Q. I am looking for a software that I can use to edit, convert and burn to DVD. It has to be able to work with AVCHD files.
I am currently using Windows Live Movie Maker and Windows DVD Maker which converts to WMV.
I would like to keep the best quality possible WITHOUT having to use a bluray player.
I would also like to edit BEFORE file conversion which is not possible in Windows Live Movie Maker.
I keep coming across AVS in my searchs and it sounds just right but I want a second opinion.
I need something pretty simple (this is for home movies not Hollywood)
What do you guys think?
A reason why the software is good would be helpful.

I have used a few video editing programs and the easiest one has been
Photo MovieTheater. Very easy to use with professional features and
same sort of layout as Movie Maker however a lot more powerful.and it supports AVCHD output format

If you are looking for special effects such as light sabers, lasers,
running on roof tops then you will need Adobe After Effects very good
program that can produce some genuine looking film effects however does take some learning.

Asking for "The BEST" is a little ambitious. With two children and a degree to undertake the best phrase should probably be "The best for a video editing beginner/simpleton"
Thank you people

I already gave up using movie maker which is a trash. it is too basic to make any functional slideshow and always make my work lose!

It is a simple video maker tool which supports all the major disc formats output. including DVD, Blu-ray & CD and AVCHD which you rarely see in other slideshow software on the market. And you can put your photo slideshow on portable devices like iPod, iPhone, PSP, Mobile phone and more. you don't need any extra program to convert it.
