That are cheap and good? And what editing software is best?
Answer
Depends what you're doing as to what you record with. I go off-roading and have lost a couple of good cameras and even more cell phones because I'm an aggressive driver when off-road. Too much lead in my right foot and I don't particularly care how deep the water is I go through - great fun but not much good for electronics - http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbWLzF5mVVFYQGxqZ_GCThA/videos
So now for most of those videos I use a cheapish RCA Small Wonder - http://www.rcaaudiovideo.com/video/camcorders/ - which is similar to the Flip cameras - http://support.theflip.com/en-us/home
For other stuff I borrow a company JVC Everio - http://camcorder.jvc.com/product.jsp?pathId=171 - it's very, very good but our particular model is around $1,000.
Some of the best camcorders around are reviewed at http://reviews.cnet.com/best-camcorders/ and http://camcorders.toptenreviews.com/hdv/ and http://www.reviewgist.com/best-camcorders
As for editing software you've got quite a choice. There's a couple of very good free ones and some excellent commercial ones. Rather than go through the list again here's a link to last time I answered this - http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AnDGWYjS9Qk3_aLzK9eN0Vfty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20120811211134AAvG6dT
For what I do I usually use Adobe Premiere but for some things Windows Movie Maker is as good as any.

Is there a music editing software that will suit my needs?

Is there a free editing software where I can record audio and then edit it? Here's the kicker: I need to be able to go back and edit over just a section of previously recorded audio (a guitar track for example) by selecting it, and then playing it again to fix that small section. Anyone know of a program like that?
Answer
There are 959 results for "music editing software" on CNET.com free downloads. Type in the search and you'll get it. There's reviews from users and also from CNET video reviews. Some are free trials and purchases too, so you'll need to break them down, but you'll find something for sure there.
