Answer
No, that laptop will do horribly with animation software and video rendering. The graphics card is horrible and the processor couldn't begin to keep up with what you need.

This computer is $1065 and will do what you need it to do, and the speed that you will need it. You don't have to add anything onto either, its base specs are just fine. The only thing you would possibly want more of, would be RAM, but until you know just how much you actually need (i.e. when you actually have the computer and are using it) then 4GB will be fine.

The only downside to it would be that it does not have a Full HD screen, as would be preferred for video editing. You could always get a monitor to hook it up to, though, and fix that. Unless of course you want video editing on the go.

It's the best out there for what it sounds like you need it for. If you really plan on doing professional editing, then this is your best choice, if not your only choice if you actually want to get things done without waiting hours for things to render.

Should I get the 13' or the 15' Macbook Pro?

HI THERE

I'm going to buy a Macbook Pro soon. I was wondering whether i should get the 13 or 15 inch model. I would use it to surf the internet play videos etc. But I also want to edit videos and play games. Is the improved graphics card worth it? And can the 13 inch play HD videos? Thanks!

Answer
All MacBook's have decent video cards now, even the lowest end white MacBook has a 320M with 48 cores that'll play the latest games but on low settings, and last years titles on medium and high settings:

This is a good benchmark of the CPU/GPU speed difference between the MacBooks:
http://www.barefeats.com/mbpp25.html

But I think the big difference between the two laptops is the resolution of the screen and speed; The 15" has a much higher resolution and it's video card is about 2x faster than the 13" and Air.

15" = 1440x900 standard and 1680x1050 optional.
13" = 1280x800 standard

The higher resolution is a big reason you'll want the 15" - and I'd get the 1680x1050 option too. The 15" is faster too, with the i5 chip vs. the 13" Core 2 Duo that's a little old. It's a tough call, but know both have decent specs and will play game/edit video/do whatever you want. The 15" has a GPU that's 2x faster, a CPU that's 50% faster, and a higher resolution screen in a package that weights about 1.5lbs more.

When all is said and done, if you could afford it get the 15".
