So my dad just got the whole adobe creative suit for his job through the creative cloud so I downloaded a couple of things including photoshop onto my computer thinking that it looked cool. Before I had a couple of photo editing softwares like aperture but it just couldn't do what I really wanted to do with the software so I gave up on photo taking and editing. After playing around with photoshop for a while I realized that I could really do any thing that I wanted to do with it so I became interested in photo taking and editing again. My one problem though is that my camera options are not very good. I have an iPhone 4s with which I usually take all my pictures with but if I put the image on full screen on photoshop I can see a bunch of pixels. My dad has also let me borrow his old camera which is a Sony Zeiss 8.1 mega pixel with 15x optical zoom but the zoom is not good and the quality is not any better than the iPhone camera. So I was wondering if there was a cheap good quality camera out there that could fit my needs of just taking good quality outdoor and indoor pictures that I could work with in Photoshop. Also I also downloaded Premiere Pro and After Effects so video capability and quality is an important factor. Any answer or opinion would be greatly appreciated so thank you.

Try this. It beats all dSLR's when it comes to zoom and you don't even have to know much about photography to use it. Just remember to use it under lots of light all the time or simply use flash when light is low to get good quality pictures consistently. Best of all, it costs less than half of decent dSLR models out there.

How do I put digital camera videos onto my laptop?

You'll need to capture the video via firewire - if your PC hasn't already got one you'll need to install a firewire card. They're cheap, easy to install and readily available. I don't know which laptop you've got, so make sure you make the right choice between PCMCIA and Express cards - they're not interchangeable.

You'll also need a firewire cable. Most firewire cards use a 6 pin port, but Sony laptops usually have a 4 pin firewire port if they've got one at all. All MiniDV camcorders have a 4 pin port, so the cable will need to be either 4 pin to 4 pin or 4 pin to 6 pin.

Once everything's connected you can capture and edit the video with Windows Movie Maker (should already be on your PC).

I know that animation on a laptop is near impossible and I know it's best to get a desktop for this kind of thing but a laptop is much more convenient for moving around between classes. So I need to find something thats under 900 bucks that will get the job done without much lag. I've been looking into a few asus laptops but wanted to get a second opinion.

I was oging to advise a mac, but your budget isn't good for that.

GO WITH THE ASUS models. you have good instincts my frined, the ASUS models are the best laptops on the market. there isn't even a debate when their name is in the ring.

The other brands, dell toshiba, hp sony, alienware, they all use ASUS componants in their highend laptops, so why pay the middle man? plus the ASYS laptops all come with a great 2 year parts andlabor warrenty plus a 1 years accidental spill warrenty.

If you haven't yet go to http://www.newegg.com and look for their best asus deals. they have several at your price range and will be perfect for video editing.

For video editing which will be the most resource intensive thing you'll be using your laptop for there are a few things to keep in mind. The first and most important will be the processor. Video editing and conversion is extremely processor intensive. What this means? If you can, get a quad core processor. An Intel i5 or i7 cpu or the AMD A-10 series would be what you should look for. A close second to that is going to be the video card. I actually prefer AMD chipsets in laptops because they almost always come with the ATI Radeon video cards. Next thing on your list is going to be the RAM. Most of the Laptops you'll look at will have anywhere from 4GB to 8GB. Obviously the more the better. Another concern will be screen size. If you plan on doing a lot of video editing the bigger the screen the better, however if you find a great laptop for a great price but it has a small screen you could look into an external monitor. As far as brands go, skip apple. I know everybody loves their iPhone but if you aren't used to using Apple's OS there is a bit of a learning curve. Apple laptops also seem to be a fair bit out of your budget. Make no mistake they are good computers just expensive. Also skip dell. Their customer service is horrible and as soon as you buy something from them they stop supporting it. I'd recommend Gateway or Toshiba. Truthfully I've always been biased to the Toshiba satellite series and there are some great laptops in that lineup right now. Toshiba's customer service has always been friendly, helpful and still supports even my older Toshiba computers and laptops. I know I haven't specified any certain ones but it's going to depend a lot on you. Sit down and decide what is important to you. If you want more power and a bigger screen expect battery life to suffer, if you want longer battery life expect overall power to suffer. Just make sure to stick with a quad core and everything else should fall into place around it. I really hope this helps and I do encourage you to check out Toshiba before anything else.

i found the low light to be better than the zx3. zx5 60fps low light was really good.
it has an internal battery which some people dont like. i thought it would be a problem to but after having the zx5 for nearly a week i havent even noticed the internal battery.
you can record 2 hours and 35 mins in 720p at 30fps. which is better than the zx3.
you can edit the video on the camera its self and then press the share button to upload it on to facebook, youtube and other sites. you also have the arcsoft software that comes with the camera.

My dslr nikon d5000 kinda sucks to be recording with. The new GoPro Hero 3 Black edition has 1080p and 60fps. I want to do a lot of shots where slow motion will reel in the viewers attention. Is there any other cameras out there that will benefit an amateur directors needs?

Even a regular, off-the-shelf camcorder is going to give you 20% better frame-rate than the 24fps your Nikon D5000 is limited to shooting in video mode.

Keep in mind that the GoPro Hero series are a fixed-lens wide-angle system designed for action Point Of View shots, mounted on a subject or vehicle, and not for "narrative" or normal day to day shots. Your audience might get bored with the constant barrel-distortion, if that's all you shot with.

For myself and other video professionals, a GoPro (or other action camera) is just one tool out of many to use in shooting a production. Other shooters have had good luck with the H3 Black's 1080-progressive @60fps setting, for later slow-down & achieving smooth slo-mo sequences.

But if you plan on mixing footage between cameras, normally I'd caution you to set both cameras at 720p (since that's what your Nikon is limited to), but one DP Review author was disappointed with the H3 Black's 720p footage "artifacts" and image noise. I know you are just around 17 and starting out, but if you've invested in more than one Nikon lens (good glass, and not cheap), you might save your $400+ dollars towards getting a newer Nikon body-only with a faster frame rate (720p @60fps, and 1080p @30fps). Or shop around for one of the Sony NEX or Handycam models that offer Super Slow Motion (120fps & 240fps) in short 16- and 8-second bursts, and offer better lensing than the GoPro.

With the Sony NEX systems, you can get a Nikon-to-Sony lens adapter, to allow you to use your current Nikon lens investment.

And depending on what edit software you use, there are software slow-motion rendering options that do a better job of slo-mo sequences than what you might be currently using.

I think FileLab would be best based on your description. Music and images can be inserted as overlays . You can resize the images and move them by right clicking on them in the timeline and selecting "Edit Overlay". FileLab has great title editor for your subtitles. And as FileLab is an editor program, you can easily delete unneeded clips. FileLab is presented as the second tutorial video in the following article:

The Nokia N73 (code-named Scarfe) is officially described as a "multimedia computer". The camera on the N73 is one of its key selling points; with the screen and software being where you find the biggest changes, compared with previous S60 phones such as the N70 or Nokia 6680. The current model supports GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 as well as UMTS 2100. The phone can also communicate with Bluetooth and IR. Lastly, it has a slot for MiniSD memory cards.

The camera is hidden behind a spring loaded cover which when opened will automatically activate the camera application. The camera is 3.2 megapixels with Carl Zeiss optics and integrated LED flash; crucially it also has an auto focus function and a manual shutter. The on board Camera application has been updated and it is no longer necessary to navigate menu to change settings, instead a series of on-screen icons (the active toolbar) allow you to make quick changes similar to a stand alone digital camera. On the right hand side of the phone there are dedicated shutter and zoom keys (digital only) for taking photos. The intention is that you hold the phone on its side as you would a standard camera and use the screen which is in landscape orientation as the viewfinder. The shutter button can be partially depressed to activate the auto focus functionality. Photos and videos can be viewed using the upgraded gallery software, which has been redesigned to be more accessible and practicable than the software included in previous Nokia s60 phones. The phone also comes with built in editing software to modify pictures and videos, such as cropping, resizing, red eye removal, adding text, changing the brightness and other functions.

The phone comes loaded with many software applications, including contacts, messaging, picture and video galleries, a music player, a visual FM radio, Realplayer, an IM client, a WAP browser, an Office document viewer, a PDF viewer, some games, and the brand new Nokia web browser, which allows users to view web pages in their native form, by scrolling with the joystick around the page. Java applications as well as Symbian (v3) applications can be installed on the phone using the Nokia PC Suite software, which is included with the phone.

Jing is a bloody joke. I use Camtasia Studio Pro 8 to record my gaming videos and edit in program for professional quality.

There are a lot of video editing software you can use, Like Camtasia ($99 for Mac or $249 for pc) and learn to edit it out yourself, but there are actually some free methods you can utilize as well. You should download a program called Audacitiy. It's completely free and very powerful for recording and editing your voice. Just record your voice using audacity and output a wav file that is the same length as your video. Then you can download free video editing (if you don't have it on your computer already) software. You can use Camstudio (for Windows) or Jing (for Mac) which are both free software you can download. Finally, import your video into the video editing software and then your new audio track and output your new video! You can learn how to do all of this in like, one day if you work at it, but you can also buy training at Fiverr on how to do this too. Check out my source.

You shot some great video with your digital camera while on vacation with family but the problem is that at times, you were holding the camera vertically.

That video was therefore captured in portrait mode and you have to turn the head sideways each time you watch those video clips inside Windows Media Player or on the large TV screen.


To fix this, you need to rotate the video clips 90° to convert them from portrait to landscape mode - any decent video editing software can do this including Quick Time or Windows Movie Maker, one thatâs already installed on your XP or Vista computer (under Video Effects).

But sometimes, the default 90 or 180 degree rotation isnât enough and you need to rotate a video by some custom angle like say 45 degrees. In that case you would need VirtualDub - a lightweight but exceptionally useful video program.

Open the video clip inside VirtualDub and press Ctrl+F to load the filters menu. Now a add a filter that says ârotate2â³ - this allows you rotate video clips by any arbitrary angle.

VirtualDub supports most video formats and can also be used to straighten videos captured via mobile phone cameras.

Good news: there is software available from several companies that can edit multimedia images, including those from a digital camera or camcorder. A simple Internet search with the phrase 'video editing software' should point you most them.

Bad news: whichever software you choose, it will mean rotating every single image frame one by one; I know of none that can rotate hundreds or thousands of frames en masse. The simplest editors will have you select the image frame to edit (one click on a lineup of frames across the bottom of your screen), then click on an icon on the toolbar that represents the function "Rotate 90 degrees."

Envision doing that several hundred or a few thousand times in a row. Hopefully, there is one (or more) than can do many frames at once, but I haven't encountered it. Good luck.

What makes a good gaming and video editing laptop?

I am going to college in the fall, so I am in need of a good laptop. According to my parents, it is inevitable that I will be getting a PC around $1,000-1,500. I would prefer HP with Windows 7.

Anyways, I want a laptop that would not only run games well, but also run video editing software well. I want to play games like "Minecraft" and other Steam games on high settings without much lagging. I am going to get Adobe Premeire Pro for video editing.

I now that I need a good dedicated graphics card (ex: NVIDIA) for the games, but that's about it. So, what specifications do I need to look for in a good video gaming and video editing laptop?

Elements of both a good gaming and video editing laptop are quad core cpu, a decent amount of ram (8gb or 16gb recommended), a high end gpu (depending on resolution).

CPU - i7 intel (the mobile i5 cpus are dual core cpus with 2 additional threads)

GPU -
1366x768 resolution max settings - Radeon HD 7850m or Geforce GTX 660m or better (30-40fps+)

1920x1080 max settings - Radeon HD 7970 or Geforce GTX 680m or better (25+fps)

EDIT: Geforce GTX 650m is also good for 1366x768 if you don't mind scaling back some settings like antaliasing or play at 1080p and cut back on antialiasing and some details.
