I use Microsoft Live Movie Maker. It is easy but ruins the qualities of my videos when I upload it to there, and its also does not have a lot of features . I want something easy like Live Maker, but I need it not ruin the quality of my videos. I also need a editing software that can adjust the quality, colors, and sounds in the video. Please help me find something. I am a YouTuber who has the worst quality videos. I want a clear beautiful video, Help =(

Answer
Make sure that in Windows Movie Maker, you check the output settings so that you're uploading at least 720p video. If you need video editing software that is more powerful, Adobe Premiere Elements should be able to suit your purposes and shouldn't be very difficult to learn.

I recorded on a sanyo vpc fh1 under 1280x720 HD quality (30fps) Also, I recorded on a SD memory card. When I uploaded it onto my Windows XP, it only shows about 1 frame for every 15. It's not a video, it's just a lot of pictures. What type of computer is good for this? Help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Answer
Well, with video, the faster the computer, the better.

I have a Sanyo FH1, and some experience with other kinds of MPEG-4 video. MPEG-4 is the most complex video type in common use, so you need more computational power to play it. There are several ways to get that.

First thing, what kind of CPU and GPU do you have? If you have an older, single core CPU and older GPU, you probably do need a new computer. But if you have a nVidia 8xxx series GPU, a similar era ATi GPU, or a dual-core processor, you may find changing the video player is all you need.

Next question... what player are you using? Did you install the Nero software that comes with the FH1... see if Nero Showtime does any better than what you're using. If that doesn't work, for dual-core PCs, look up the Splash Lite player, which is free. This will decode video on every CPU core you have; many players, like iTunes, Quicktime, or Windows Media Player, only use one CPU, no matter how many you have.

Just using the CPU, my Q9550 PC takes up to 75% of all CPUs to play 1080/60p video shot on the FH1. That is about four times more complex than the 720/30p video you're talking about. So I would bet that, with the right player, you should get full video rates with a single 2.5GHz Core2 CPU, or a Core2 duo at around 1.5GHz (if they even come that slow). I would be concerned about this playing on anything but a really fast Pentium 4, and below that, forget about it.

I have a laptop with a 2.4GHz Core2 duo and nVidia 8600M graphics. Using video acceleration on the GPU (you need a player, like Nero Showtime, that supports multithreading and GPU acceleration). 1080/60p takes around 100% of that PC to run, so I would guesstimate that, if you had a similar GPU in your system, you could play your 720p on a single 1.5-2.0 GHz CPU.

It's pretty obvious that you have a very old, slow PC... it would have been wise to tell us what you're using now. But you have some data now... I would recommend at least a 2.5GHz or faster dual core CPU (AMD or Intel) for even casual high-definition video work. A better GPU will help on playback, but not yet on editing.

Is there a way to get video files onto a disc from windows media player?

i need a screen recording and video editing software and i heard about ezvid. i just want to know if it's really as good as people say it is. it's not a scam or something right? and if i download it do i get the full version or do i have to pay for the full version ? if you could answer these questions it would really help me a lot. thanks.
*BROFIST*

Answer
It's OK, but there are two big issues with it, music and monetization. All of your videos will have THEIR music imprinted on them, there's no way around it. If the video that you're editing already has audio, it will be stripped and replaced with their music. The intent is that after you upload your video to YouTube, it will be automatically monetized with ads because their music is embedded in the video. They will automatically receive ALL and any payments from YouTube ads because of this,. There's no way around it. If you think about it, it's a pretty clever marketing scheme.

There are other freeware alternatives, if you want any YouTube ad money to go to you, or if you want to include or keep your own audio. For screen capturing, I use camstudioportable:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/PORTABLE-SOFTWARE/Multimedia/Video/Windows-Portable-Applications-CamStudio-Portable.shtml

For video editing of my captures, I use any one of three freeware programs, Freemake, FileLab or VSDC, depending on what I want to do. For basic video splitting, cutting, and merging, I'll just use Freemake because it's so easy. If I want titles, or to brighten up a video, I'll use FileLab. If I want special effects, such as green screen explosions, I'll use VSDC:
http://ezvideoedit.blogspot.com/2012/10/joining-merging-splitting-cutting-and.html

And if you want to include music on your YouTube videos, yet still get paid for ads, consider this site to download your music. Just make sure to read the licensing for each song (make sure it's free for commercial use) and always give them full credit and include the links to the license and site as shown:

lightweight laptop for video editing image

aero

I want to be able to surf the web, stream videos, listen to music, write papers, run CAD programs, and do some graphic editing. I don't do any gaming or any of that!

Obviously I'm looking for the best bang for my buck when it comes to a fairly small, lightweight, reliable, and fast laptop. I prefer windows 8, and if I'm going to get one, I want it to be as up to date as possible. I'd like to stick to a $500-600 price range tops, but I could save up some extra if it's worth it.

Also, do you have any recommendations for the best free or affordable CAD programs or other programs that could be useful for mechanical engineering?

Answer
If you're doing mechanical engineering you'll need to be well knowledged in Solidworks, AutoDesk Inventor, and AutoCAD, and I'd be surprised if a $500-600 laptop could run any of them WELL. They could probably all get by, but actually using the programs effectively on a budget laptop would be difficult.

If you're a student, look to see if you have any student discounts with AutoDesk, as that gives you access to discounted versions of Inventor and AutoCAD.

What are important specs when buying a laptop that will replace a desktop?

I am trying to stay under or around $1000 and still run like a desktop. My wife and I are getting a Nikon D80 Digital Camera for Christmas and we also download a lot of music. What are some suggested specs for a Laptop to run like a desktop and also be able to do the above things listed?

video editing software better than sony vegas image

Mario

I need an editing software dor my computer its a dell inspiron 8600 no internal upgrades what so ever. I was thinking sony vegas by i doubt it will work with this so what are some good video editing software that will work.

Answer
There have been two very good freeware editors recently released this year, FileLab and VSDC. Both should work with XP SP3 and your Inspiron.

FileLab is a freeware video editing program for just about all platforms (Mac, PC, etc...). I use it a lot to make YouTube videos. It runs in your browser using a simple plug-in download. It's also available as a free app on Facebook. It has many transition and video effects, very good title editor, and customized color correction to include brightness, contrast, hue, saturation, and gamma. Both of these FileLab YouTube tutorials were made with FileLab
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfNts_O1STA
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYbAe-mUscs

VSDC is also freeware, but has much more advanced capabilities than FileLab, such as green screen! It's not as obvious or easy to use as FileLab, but did I already mention it has green screen (chroma key), and it's free? Also, it is capable of editing in most most popular video formats and compression schemes including high definition (HD), AVI, H.264, MP4, MKV, MTS, 3GP, WMV, QT, MP3, MPEG2 FLV, SWF. YouTube. Get it now while it's free because eventually this will go payware. And here are two tutorials on using VSDC

For more advanced, yes Apple's Final Cut Studio...

The simpler ones I know of are Windows Movie Maker and Apple's iMovie. I personally just use Movie Maker since it came with the Windows 7 software package.

What is the best software to import video from a camcorder?

Like a Par

I have a rather slow pc, it's old so I don't want anything like Adobe Premiere. Is there a software that can run fine on an older pc and is easy to use?
I have a mini dv camcorder

Answer
The video editing process: just take your pick

1st Part: transfer video files from vcam to computer
i.e., using a program to receive the video stream from vcam into the PC and saving it as a video file.
- connect vcam to computer via firewire cable (4 or 6 pin) for good transfer (USB may drop frames)
- open (free w/XP) Windows Movie Maker in computer (for starters). **see/click WMMaker help ...it is very detailed.

a. Set the camera mode to play recorded video.
b. In the Movie Maker Tasks pane/Capture Video, click Capture from video device.
c. the video files from vcam will then be put into WMM collection (usually there are several video files from vcam although you will not notice on vcam playback.
d. drag & drop video files one by one from collection to video chart below noting proper number sequence (Note: if no editing is to be done, drag all collection files to one video chart)
e. save the video files (WMAv) one by one
(Note: if no editing is to be done, save WMAv file as one)
...Transfer of the video files is now complete

2nd part: video editing
for starters, XP/Windows Movie Maker would provide the easy way to learn the process. SpiceFx by Pixelan would provide enhanced effects. You may venture to other video editting softwares - Ulead, Adobe Premiere, Pinnacle, etc. with Hollywood effects after learning the editing tricks thru WMMaker.

a. Open WMMaker (steps similar to 1st)
b. In the task pane, import your previously saved video files into another WMM collection sub-folder
Also import your desired audio/music files in another WMM collection sub-folder
c. Edit 1 your video - ' Make your muvee' thru mouse drag & drop technique.. video file to to the video chart below (video/audio)- take note of proper video sequence. Also drag & drop audio/music files to aud/music chart below. The audio from video file and from music files can be adjusted the way you like (mute if you want to) thru setting audio levels icon between video & music.
d. Edit 2 - Can also enhance the muvee thru video effects (zoom/pan - for greater degree, buy Hollywood/Spice FX), transitions, tiltles, credits like a muvee.

3rd part: finish the Movie (thru WMMaker)
Usually save files to computer first for review of the project. You can always go back to edit the project if you want to add or change anything. The saved MMK file is in WMAv.

Finally â¦Burning to DVD
First off, you'll need an authoring program like Windows DVD, Nero vision or Encore DVD. Import the video file, Once you click burn, it will automatically convert your .AVI files into mpeg-2 .vobs.
Hope I've been of assistance.

These two programs are light years ahead of Windows Movie Maker, in Video Editing Abilities. Takes a bit of work, but they are free.

Screen Shot - http://asimplelife.ca/nle.html Upgrade your computer to AVCHD specs below and you can run both programs seen on my Web Page on your computer. Just Rejig the search term below in the YouTube search, from the instructions below.

This is not a program that can run on any computer, see below -

Minimum System Requirements

Windows® 7, Windows Vista® (SP2), or Windows XP (SP3)
Intel® Pentium® or AMD Athlon⢠1.8 GHz (2.4 GHz or higher recommended)
-Intel Core⢠2 Duo 2.4 GHz required for AVCHD*
-Intel Core⢠2 Quad 2.66 GHz or Intel Core i7 required for
AVCHD* 1920
1 GB system memory recommended, 2 GB required for AVCHD*
DirectX® 9 or 10 compatible graphics card with 64 MB (128 MB or higher recommended)
-256 MB required for HD and AVCHD*
DirectX 9 (or higher) compatible sound card
3.8 GB of disk space
DVD-ROM drive to install software

Import Formats

⢠Video: AVCHD*, AVCHD Lite*, BD Blu-ray*, DV, HDV, AVI, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, DivX®*, MPEG-4*, 3GP (MPEG-4)*, WMV, non-encrypted DVD titles (incl. DVD-VR/+VR), QuickTime® MOV (DV, MPEG-4*, H.264*), DivX Plus® MKV*
⢠Audio: MP3, MPA, WAV, AC3*, WMA
⢠Graphic: BMP, GIF, JPG, PCX, PSD, TGA, TIF, WMF, PNG, J2K

If interested, links below takes you to the sites, but you can get these two programs for free. Do this by opening a web browser, surfing over to YouTube. Once there, in the search box on that site, enter 'Pinnacle Studio 14' or âSony Vegas Pro 10â. Youâre looking for free download, find a link or video that says that, in the video description, there will be link for a free download. Make sure, before you do this, to make sure your computer can meet or exceed those Specs above, and pay special attention to the AVCHD specs if you have or are going to get a HD camcorder.

A laptop running these Programs, when rendering say a 10 minute Video out, be prepared, render times could leave your laptop useless, while rendering for 4 or 5 days on that file. Besides you cannot upgrade a Laptop this way, so it unlikely these program will run on most Laptops.

What is a video editing software for a PC that can:
1. Run clips backwards
2. Change sound tones
3. Change clip speeds at different rates on the same clip
Windows Movie Maker can't do any of that, including the updated version. I've tried Roxio, as well, but discovered that it fails at its simulated life. I do NOT need anything over the top like Premiere, but is that the only one for a PC that can do all that?

Answer
Sony's Vegas Pro can do all that. If you don't need the speed to change gradually you can split the clip into shorter ones which have their speeds individually changed - you can use the cheaper Vegas Movie Studio.

Windows Movie Maker is currently the most popular choice for free video editing software but it doesn't always work very well. There's a new free video editing application that is much better.

VideoSpin is a brand new tool that allows you to create your own movie clips in minutes using your own videos and pictures.

The top 3 video edting software choices for the PC is Ulead Video Studio, Adobe Premiere Elements and Sony Vegas. These programs are not free, but you can download a free trial from their Web sites.

I do photo and video editing in my spare time but, Im good enough to branch out as a Free-Lancer. Be descriptive if Possible please not just say custom cause iMacs are overpriced.
Joe Smith makes a Valid point and I agree with his Ideologies I'm going with the PC :).

Answer
Ok here is how this works. If you consider yourself technology-minded, the mac is not for you. Apple products are built for the lower-minded average consumer who has no idea that they are paying large amounts for baby software loaded onto sub-par standard machines. Apple products are for the consumer who doesn't know any better than to buy that shiny new thing with an apple on it. For $2000 you could get a mac fully loaded with a baby step operating system and standard components, or you could get a screaming fast top of the line pc that will blow past any programs you throw at it for years to come. Building a pc is also a fun experience! (Try that waiting in line at an apple store).

What i'm saying here is that if you take pride in keeping yourself above the idiot level, go with pc.

--

Lets take Marie for an example mac user:

"I can get my work done faster and I have even started making more money with the Mac"

Ahh this is a prime example of a consumer who thinks on a much lower level than the rest of us. All of the shiny, easy to use menus sure do help this type of person work faster. There is not much to not understand with a mac, which means there is also just about nothing you can do with them. I would compare any apple operating system to a nice, heavy duty, metal chastity belt.

"The macs do not have the same troubles as the pc. Macs never get viruses like pcs. That's what killed my last computer and I chose a mac"

Ahah! Yet another prime example of idiocracy at its finest. If you feel the need to download a file from an obviously shady website named "virus.exe", then yes, definitely purchase that mac, you have no business operating a pc. As for the comment that macs do not have the same troubles as pcs, this is because you do not have the ability to change any useful settings, or have access to any of the better parts of your machine on your mac. Apple products are essentially baby proofed, meaning you can't get into the cookie jar and enjoy all of the yummy treats.

I'm done.

Buying a HD Camcorder??? What type of brand is the best?

JamesWayne

okay right now im looking at a canon vixia hg20 or 21 HD camcorder. What i dont know if whether canon is the best HD. Ive checked some videos in youtube. and have seen them to be great. But which is the best brand of HD camcorder that is best cheapeast at $899 below HD camcorders. and what brand is the best canon, sony, or etc... plz help.

Answer
Personally I would recommend the Canon HV30. This camera is the sucessor to Canon's immensely popular and successful HV20. This camera is a nice size and form factor and takes beautiful 1080p video recorded onto MiniDV. For any sports recording where your camera gets jarred and banged a lot I would recommend MiniDV or some kind of solid state memory, as hard drives don't last long under those conditions. This camcorder records in 30p so your footage will be nice and clean and smooth, even with fast motion, unlike many other consumer camcorders. Also this camera features a 24p mode so the fps (frames per second) will match that of film, giving your image a more film like look and feel. Of course the image quality is also excellent with very accurate, vivid colors, and excellent Full HD quality. The sound is also very nice and you can add an external microphone if you want. Really for the consumer HD market the Canon HV30 is one of the best, and at a price point of only $600 on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Canon-HV30-Definition-Camcorder-Stabilized/dp/B00114PN1U/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1238298165&sr=8-1 it falls firmly within your budget range. If you get this camera, I know you wont be disappointed.

PS- A side note/warning about HD camcorders. HD requires significant computer horsepower to edit and process. A computer with a minimum of a 2.4ghz P4 or a 2.0 Core 2 Duo processor with at least 2gb of ram is basically the minimum required to work with footage from any HD camcorder. Also new editing software (such as the latest version of Sony's Vegas) will be required to edit the footage. If you don't have a computer powerful enough to work with this footage you will either need to get a new computer or else not edit the footage and keep it on tape. Hope this helps.

How to burn cellphone videos to a DVD to watch on TV?

T

When I take movies with my cellphone and then save them to my computer, the computer saves them as either QuickTime Movies (my old phone) or a format called 3GPP Audio/Video (Blackberry). Is there a way to burn these to a DVD so I can watch them on TV? I tried doing it on my own but the DVD player did not recognize the DVD I had burned the videos to.

Answer
well you can download them on youtube.com then download it to real player and then burn it.
(if you have a video editing software like sony movie studio 9 which is cheap about $30 from amazon it is better)

Answer
Photobucket is a great web based and FREE editing tools. The software behind it comes from Adobe who make some of the best commercial ($$$) photo and video editors. Also check out Jaycut which allows you to export and save your videos! If you need/want more features downloading VideoSpin, VideoPad or VideoThang are great options. Still free, but you have to download the software. For under $100 you can buy Adobe Premiere Elements.

Hello im a film student i just enter college but i need a computer for video editing and photo,
i have been searching whats best a pc or mac i see a lot of awesome sony and toshiba laptops that have awesome power and graphics but they have like 3 hours of battery life and macs have like 7 hours i think and the programs that apple has for edition are awesome.
So whats the best option for me a macpro or a pc?

Answer
Definitely a macbook pro!

Mac Pros are expensive, macbook pros are portable and have the most advanced video editing software including iMovie. HOWEVER, if you are going to film school and are there for video editing, you probably will need to make an investment into getting "Final Cut Studio" which costs about $1000 but is the most advanced video editing software on the market. It is created by Apple and is only compatible on macs. Many in hollywood use Final Cut. It is a very important video editing tool.

Best of luck!

I have been a mac user since 1999. Have no regrets. Macs are better all round especially when it comes to creative work.
