top laptop for video editing image

Sir_Knows_

I'm becoming more and more interested in video editing, so I personally would like to get a laptop(no matter what the price) that would both perform great for video editing and also for everyday needs(internet and typing). Any brand of laptop would be great! Thanks!

Answer
Buying a laptop is a complicated decision which will probably affect you daily for the next few years.

In addition to price and specs, you want to consider things such as ease-of-use, speed, reliability, stylish-design and tech-support.

Different people would have different opinions.

Therefore, I would recommend you to check ProCompare.com (http://www.procompare.com/top/Notebooks). They have a recommendation engine that ranks laptops and other tech products based on ratings and reviews from a community of trusted IT professionals. They also have a cool personalization slider that lets you personalize the results based on the criteria that are most important to YOU.

Hope you'll find this answer useful...

Just to be clear i know how to create a video on my camera and put it on youtube.. that is easy
BUT...
i want to know how can i like get for an example a a sample of a youtube video in my own video so i can put on youtube.. or maybe a sample of a DVD film playin from my laptop, how would i get that in a video created by me onto Youtube?

Answer
Use "Free Download Manager" to download videos from youtube and similar sites:
http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/

It integrates with any browser. When the add-on is installed, you'll see a small green 'Download with FDM' box appear when you hover your mouse pointer on the upper left hand corner of the video a few seconds after it starts to play.

You can download videos from streaming video sites like Youtube, Metacafe, Dailymotion, Veoh, Google Video, etc.

The video is saved in its native format but can be directly converted to other popular formats like MP4, MPG, AVI, WMV, FLV, and yes, even MP3.

As for DVD movies, rip the whole movie to your hard drive using this:
http://www.formatoz.com/

After getting all the videos you need, edit them on Windows Live Movie Maker 2011:

i need a screen recording and video editing software and i heard about ezvid. i just want to know if it's really as good as people say it is. it's not a scam or something right? and if i download it do i get the full version or do i have to pay for the full version ? if you could answer these questions it would really help me a lot. thanks.
*BROFIST*

Answer
It's OK, but there are two big issues with it, music and monetization. All of your videos will have THEIR music imprinted on them, there's no way around it. If the video that you're editing already has audio, it will be stripped and replaced with their music. The intent is that after you upload your video to YouTube, it will be automatically monetized with ads because their music is embedded in the video. They will automatically receive ALL and any payments from YouTube ads because of this,. There's no way around it. If you think about it, it's a pretty clever marketing scheme.

There are other freeware alternatives, if you want any YouTube ad money to go to you, or if you want to include or keep your own audio. For screen capturing, I use camstudioportable:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/PORTABLE-SOFTWARE/Multimedia/Video/Windows-Portable-Applications-CamStudio-Portable.shtml

For video editing of my captures, I use any one of three freeware programs, Freemake, FileLab or VSDC, depending on what I want to do. For basic video splitting, cutting, and merging, I'll just use Freemake because it's so easy. If I want titles, or to brighten up a video, I'll use FileLab. If I want special effects, such as green screen explosions, I'll use VSDC:
http://ezvideoedit.blogspot.com/2012/10/joining-merging-splitting-cutting-and.html

And if you want to include music on your YouTube videos, yet still get paid for ads, consider this site to download your music. Just make sure to read the licensing for each song (make sure it's free for commercial use) and always give them full credit and include the links to the license and site as shown:

Answer
Virtually any software is going to convert the files into it's native format to do any editing.

What you need to look for is the ability to make the output convert pack to the original format. This should be able to be done in the settings of the program.

canon 550d editing programss?

iwas wondering if anyone knows of any free programs where i can edit mov. format videos from my canon 550d? everything ive tried keeps lagging and cannot support this file.. thanks so much!

Answer
Windows movie maker, imovie, etc are great free editing tools. But mov always hard to be recognized by many software. Best way is to change the mov video format, and then many powerful editors could be used easily. Have a try.

ok here are the specs:

3GB DDR2
250 GB HD
256 MB ATI Mobility Raedon 3450
6 Cell

will above specs will be capale to run utilize MAYA 2010 for rendering videos and high quality videos?
I want laptop of budget range below 1K.

Answer
No, that laptop will do horribly with animation software and video rendering. The graphics card is horrible and the processor couldn't begin to keep up with what you need.

http://www.xoticpc.com/asus-n61jqa1-order-p-2734.html

This computer is $1065 and will do what you need it to do, and the speed that you will need it. You don't have to add anything onto either, its base specs are just fine. The only thing you would possibly want more of, would be RAM, but until you know just how much you actually need (i.e. when you actually have the computer and are using it) then 4GB will be fine.

The only downside to it would be that it does not have a Full HD screen, as would be preferred for video editing. You could always get a monitor to hook it up to, though, and fix that. Unless of course you want video editing on the go.

It's the best out there for what it sounds like you need it for. If you really plan on doing professional editing, then this is your best choice, if not your only choice if you actually want to get things done without waiting hours for things to render.

What Is The Best Tablet PC, or Droid Tablet?

video editing software 1024x600
 on ProBook 4440s keyboard
video editing software 1024x600 image

tracey l

For the money, which is better? A tablet PC that runs XP, / Win7, or an Android powered tablet? I'm wanting portability, light weight, wifi, camera(s), and great battery life. But, all at a super good price. The ability to run MS software seems like a good idea, but does it add too much to the price?

Thanks for your comments

Answer
Android tablets will give you more options and cost you less than Win7 tablets...

If Windows OS compatibility or a digitizer pen is important to you, go for the ASUS Eee Slate or HP Slate 500. The biggest differences between those are that the ASUS has a better display (12.1 inch AFFS 1280x800) than the HP (8.9 inch TFT 1024x600) but is larger, heavier and more expensive.

If high-end video recording is important to you, consider the LG G-Slate or BlackBerry Playbook, both of which can record at 1080p.

For overall value, the ASUS Eee Transformer (TF101) has surprisingly good specs for under $400: Android 3.1, 10.1 inch 1280x800 IPS (like iPad, but bigger and higher resolution) display, up to 9 hours of battery life (16 hours if optional dock added), optional ability to dock with keyboard, 1 GHz Tegra 250 ARM CPU with 1 GB RAM, good array of ports (mini HDMI, SD, micro SD), preloaded Polaris Office 3.0 for editing documents (.doc), spreadsheets (.xls) and presentation (.ppt) files. Note, though, no 3G (however people report success in tethering it to smart phones).

The iPad (0.34 inches) and Galaxy Tab 10.1 (0.336 inches) are the thinnest. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 (1.25 lbs) is the lightest of the big-screen (greater than 9 inch) tablets.

iPad 2 Advantages (included for point of reference):

IPads have a higher degree of fit-and-finish than the competition. Like iPhones vs other smart phones, iPods vs other MP3 players, or Macs vs PC's, iPads are widely regarded as being more refined and polished than the competition. iPad also has a large and refined App Store (although Android Market is closing the gap).

iPad 2 Disadvantages:

1. No Flash.
2. No SD expansion; no HDMI port; no USB port.
3. ASUS Eee Transformer has a better display (10.1 inch, 1280x800, IPS vs 9.7 inch, 1024x768, IPS) for less money.
4. PlayBook and G-Slate have better rear camera video recording (1080p vs 720p).
5. PlayBook has much better front camera video recording (1080p vs VGA).
6. Almost all tablets have better camera resolution than iPad's lousy 0.7 MP.

Finally, if cellular service is important, you may want to consider which tablet your favorite carrier supports:

Verizon:Galaxy Tab 10.1, iPad 2, Xoom, and Galaxy Tab

T-Mobile:G-Slate, Streak 7, and Galaxy Tab

Sprint:PlayBook and Galaxy Tab

AT&T:iPad 2 and Galaxy Tab

None:Eee Slate, Slate 500, TouchPad, Thrive, Eee Pad TF101, Iconia Tab A500, Archos 101, Archos 70, and NOOK Color

What is a good video editing software that can run on a mini notebook?

I have an Acer Aspire One and it is only a 10.1 inch screen which means the resolution is only 1024x600 o4 something like that. most of the video editing software I have tried you need 1024x768 or something or most of the product will be cut off by the screen and I can not edit my videos. Hey, I'm looking for a new video editing software to buy, I'll be using it for youtube videos of all kinds. I'm looking for a software I can do a lot on, similar to imovie and Final Cut Pro. Would Cyberlink Powerdirect be a good option for me? Also, what do you think about Corel Video Studio X4 Ultimate or some adobe premiere software? Any input will help!
Thank You!

Answer
At University, I learned on Pinnacle Studio, but today I choose Adobe Premier CS5. It's well supported for all types of cameras and video formats with lots of presets as a good starting point for your projects.

It integrates fully with the Adobe Creative Suite, so if you wanted to make titles and motion graphics outside of Premier Pro it's easy with photoshop/after effects. Also because it's integrated with Adobe Soundbooth is really useful for quickly cleaning-up your audio.

If you're not familiar with the Premier Pro software there's lots and lots of free tutorials and youtube tutes to help you do everything you need to.

It's got a familiar layout and controls if you use an other adobe software.

The way I look at learning new software...I don't want to invest a whole load of effort learning new software to be held back by not being able to do something in the application at a later date so I always try to go with the more complicated/industry standard application if it's a field I['m not familiar with, even though it might be a bit of a scary learning curve at first, there's always better help for professional software.

Avid Express is equally good, as is final cut on the Mac.

laptop for video editing windows image

Willz

I am going to college in the fall, so I am in need of a good laptop. According to my parents, it is inevitable that I will be getting a PC around $1,000-1,500. I would prefer HP with Windows 7.

Anyways, I want a laptop that would not only run games well, but also run video editing software well. I want to play games like "Minecraft" and other Steam games on high settings without much lagging. I am going to get Adobe Premeire Pro for video editing.

I now that I need a good dedicated graphics card (ex: NVIDIA) for the games, but that's about it. So, what specifications do I need to look for in a good video gaming and video editing laptop?

Thanks!
@TheTurtleGuy: I'd like to have Alienware, but their laptops are WAY too expensive. And like I said, my parents can only give me a laptop around $1,000 to $1,500. Thanks for your answer, though.

Answer
Elements of both a good gaming and video editing laptop are quad core cpu, a decent amount of ram (8gb or 16gb recommended), a high end gpu (depending on resolution).

CPU - i7 intel (the mobile i5 cpus are dual core cpus with 2 additional threads)

GPU -
1366x768 resolution max settings - Radeon HD 7850m or Geforce GTX 660m or better (30-40fps+)

1920x1080 max settings - Radeon HD 7970 or Geforce GTX 680m or better (25+fps)

EDIT: Geforce GTX 650m is also good for 1366x768 if you don't mind scaling back some settings like antaliasing or play at 1080p and cut back on antialiasing and some details.

---------------------------

Use this chart to help you pick.

Highlight the games you want to play and go from there.

-------------------------

Btw, although Alienware is solid its very overpriced.

Edit: The dell costs $400 more than the cyberpc similar specs.

Heres a laptop that costs almost the same as Alienware but has a better gpu
(http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/Xplorer_X6-9500_Gaming_Notebook/)

You can buy more ram or an ssd seperately and install it yourself.

What are some good video editing programs for Windows Vista?

I have windows moviemaker pre-installed on my laptop. I want to know some good video editing programs that I can use instead. Thanks!

Answer
the best:
get a mac and install Final Cut Studio and have Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator ready. up to $1200 for the program.

next best:
Adobe Premiere CS5 + if you have any money left over add Adobe After Effects $700

there's also Adobe Premiere Elements Plus for those with limited budgets. but check to make sure you have the System Requirements met first.

Brand buying advice

You get what you pay for. Systems with high end parts with low prices are to be viewed with suspicion. They have to cut corners somewhere to get the price down. What cost you less today is going to cost you more tomorrow.

Apple makes a good quality laptop. The problem comes when it requires service or minor upgrades. It is near impossible to do anything with them. They even glue the battery and hard drive down so you can not change it. They solder the ram to the logic board so you can not increase it. They lock up most of the software so your stuck with what they approve.

Lenovo has serious stand behind their product problems. They bought IBM PC division and proceeded to drive the quality of the system into the ground. Their customer service is well below par. They even makes Dell customer service look good. The last and final thing to remember about them is they are a Chinese Government own company. It is up to you if you want to trust them.

Toshiba, Panasonic, Sony should be avoided because of their heavy modification of Windows and the drivers. If you remove some of the bloat they install, you can cripple the system.

Acer, Gateway, and eMachines should be avoided period. Low end system that are driving the race to the bottom.

Dell once made a good system and fell from grace. They are now struggling to regain their place in the market. Customer service is one of many problems with this company.

Alienware are glorified Dells and are more name then product. Priced extremely high for what you get. They do perform but you can get the same for less by looking around, just not packaged to be eye candy to the gamers.

Samsung has a history of using cheap parts in critical areas. Capacitors has been one area Samsung has a known history of going cheap, causing units to fail early. For that reason I would avoid them.

ASUS and HP do not modify Windows as bad as the other manufacturers. They have excellent build quality. They might add a lot of bloat but they also makes it easy to get rid of it.

Ultrabooks are the higher end of Wintel laptops but they have some of the same concerns as Apple. They make it next to impossible to change any hardware in them. Service of them will have to be done by the manufacturers. With most of them, you can not change your own battery or hard drive. They are designed to catch your eye but they are not any more special then other laptops except for the fact that they are slim or thin. Your paying for it being thin and slim. For the money your going to spend on it you can buy a much better laptop with more power.

Hybrids are the worse of the worse. The flip or detachable touch screens are just a disaster waiting to happen.

Never buy an All In One. They are far worst then laptops of any kind to service and they have a higher failure rate.

Choose wisely.

What is the best way to record xbox game footage for video-editing on a PC?

mil8

I'm using a PC laptop and running Pinnacle Studio 9. I have a miniDV camcorder too.

Answer
Capturing Xbox Video on a PC

There are 2 basic ways to get this accomplished, direct to PC and w/ a Digital Video Camera.

Direct to PC
First off, you'll probably need a half-decent PC. If you don't plan on doing alot of editing, a ~1.5Ghz with at least 256MB RAM should get you started, and you'll need at least a GB or two of Hard Disk space to store the video while you're working on it, depending on how long your segments are. In order to record video on a PC, you will also need a Video Capture card and capture software. Some video cards may have this, so look on your PC and check if there is a yellow RCA or S-Video INPUT plug next to the VGA/DVI Output. If you're not sure, check the manual or website for your PC/Video Card. A Video Capture Card is NOT the same as a TV Tuner card, though many TV Tuner cards may also include video capture capabilities. These cards usually start in the $50-$75 range and go up from there. There are also external video capture devices, but if you're considering one of these, make sure you have a USB2 or Firewire connection for the device, since USB1 will be a little slow when dealing w/ Video. If you have a laptop, another option may be a PC Card (PCMCIA) Capture Card. The capture card will have a composite input (OK), an S-Video input (Better), or maybe both. This is the only device we know of at the moment that uses component inputs. There is a list of available cards at VideoHelp.com, including prices, technical details, and user comments about most of them.

Once you have a capture device, you'll need to connect it to the PC. Do NOT assume you can just connect it directly to the PC and play 'live'. Generally, there will be a slight delay as the video passes through the PC, so you don't want to be playing your game while watching it on the PC monitor. Therefore, you will probably want to consider one of the following connection methods:

1) Splitter - Use a composite Y-Cable (cheap) or S-video splitter (not so cheap) to split the output of the Xbox to BOTH the TV and PC. You can use the Radio Shack Video Distribution Amplifier as a splitter, especially for long cable runs, and it will also convert Composite to S-Video if your TV and PC inputs don't match. Basically, you'll connect the Xbox cables to the Y-Cables/Splitter, and the splitter to the TV and PC. Anything you do while in the game should be visible on the TV in real-time, and maybe slightly delayed on the PC. Don't forget your audio cables! They will be split as well using simple RCA Y cables, available at Radio Shack or any electronics store.

2) Monitor Out - Some TV's have a 'monitor' jacks to OUTPUT whatever is on the screen. You'll connect your Xbox to your TV as you normally would, then run another cable from the TV to your Video Capture card/device. Most of the time, this Monitor output is only Composite, so it may not be the optimal method. If you are using a decent A/V Reciever, there may also be a monitor output on the reciever that you could use as well.

Once you got everything connected, you should be able to use whatever video capture software that came with your device to display the signal that's input into the PC in a window or full-screen on video monitor and start recording it. Assuming you're recording to the AVI file format for future editing, try recording at 480x640 or 720x480 before going to any higher resolution (or 'NTSC' if your card lists options in that manner). This is the best you'll get over a composite or S-video connection, so increasing it probably won't make much of a difference.

Digital Video Camera
This one is pretty simple, as long as your camera has Video Inputs (as most do). Connect the camera to the Tv and make sure you can see what the camera sees on the TV (the TV is on the right input, etc...). Connect your Xbox to the Camera. Record your video by pressing "REC" on the camera. When you're done, connect the camera to the PC and you can transfer the video to the PC as per your camera's software instructions. Many software programs will even let you control the camera directly from the software, so you may be able to have the camera connected to the PC at the same time and control it through the software.

What is better: A Quad Core with a Intel HD 4000 or a Dual Core with a GT 635M?

Ken

I'm currently looking at budget laptops for college. I'm considering the Lenovo Z580 line of laptops at the moment and I'm conflicted on which is a better buy: an Intel Core i7-3520M 2.9GHz with Intel HD 4000 or an Intel Core i5 3210M 2.50GHz with an nVidia GT 635M graphics card. I am planning to do some casual gaming on the machine (League of Legends, Minecraft, etc) as well as use it for video editing and music making.
The video card has 1 GB of dedicated video memory.
Also, they're around the same price, give or take 10 or so dollars.

Answer
For gaming, go for the better video card (635M). Most games use only one core, so multi core does not help gaming as much as better video cards. Make sure the 635m has dedicated video ram, not shared system ram... (otherwise they will be about the same...)

I want a free video editing software, which has various options like adding a song and pictures in between, fasten the video, reverse and other options like that.

Answer
The best stuff is paid.
There are some free choices, though.
I don't like to make recommendations, since what suits me personally may be too complicated to learn for novices.
You might like to start by looking at Windows Live Movie Maker. That most excellent and easy to use app may not have quite everything you want, though.

It would be wrong of me to say that the very best (pirated) software for this purpose can be obtained from various torrent sites - so I won't!

Can Windows 8 run Windows 7 software programs or just apps from the Windows Store?

Doc

I'm thinking about upgrading to Windows 8 from 7, but I'm wondering if my video editing software, graphics programs, iTunes, and all that other stuff will be able to run in Windows 8. Also, does a preview/beta version of Office 2013 come with Windows 8, or a full version?

Katelin

I want to purchase video editing software from sony Vegas and can't figure out which one to get. Can someone list the current versions from the best version down to the lowest? Or explain the difference between them?

Thanks :)

Answer
Sony Vegas Movie Studio has less functions than Pro.. it is simply the consumer version of Sony Vegas Pro! Vegas Pro offers far more in terms of professional features, but costs around $500 more..

http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/vegassoftware

For a complete comparison you better look at this table

http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/vegaspro/compare

and this is a very useful 2010 top10 table if you like

http://video-production-software-review.toptenreviews.com/index.html

Anyways, I use Sony Vegas Pro 9

What are some good video editing softwares?

C dogg

I was wondering, what are some good video editing softwares besides sony vegas and windows movie maker? I need software with good slow mo and fast motion editing. Any ideas?
Thanks
I need them to be free by the way

Answer
If you want true editing apps, go with Premiere, Final Cut, Avid. Premiere has an entry-level app "Elements"/ Final Cut does not nor does Avid. They have Express labled apps but they are not entry-level. That is not to say you can't take the leap but it will require a lot of reading and trial and error on your part. It's worth it in the long run. If you want to be able to do whatever you can think of, you need to start moving in this direction and away from the free ones. It'll cost you in several ways but it's worth it.

My girlfriend is wanting to try her hand at being a Youtube star and has set me on the task of finding her a video editing software. If you can point me in the right direction of finding the best free or extremely cheap program it would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
FileLab is a freeware video editing program for just about all platforms (Mac, PC, etc...). I use it a lot to make YouTube videos. It runs in your browser using a simple plug-in download. It has many transition and video effects, very good title editor, and customized color correction to include brightness, contrast, hue, saturation, and gamma. This tutorial on FileLab was made with FileLab

VSDC is also freeware, but has much more advanced capabilities than FileLab, such as green screen! It's not as obvious or easy to use as FileLab, but did I already mention it has green screen (chroma key), and it's free? Also, it is capable of editing in most most popular video formats and compression schemes including high definition (HD), AVI, H.264, MP4, MKV, MTS, 3GP, WMV, QT, MP3, MPEG2 FLV, SWF. YouTube. Get it now while it's free because eventually this will go payware.
