Video editing software help?

angiee.x

I just need to do some very simple, basic editing which consists of cutting clips and moving them around something that JayCut allows me to do very easily BUT it does not allow me to save so I can't upload it unless I pay. Windows Movie Maker is constantly freezing up with the videos that I import from a digital camera. Does anyone know a free, easy software available so i can finish editing this video? Thanks!

Answer
I'd like to recommend Movavi Video Editor to you, I always use it to edit video and make funny video for uploading to Youtube, it's easy to use and the quality is awesome, you can crop, cut, join, edit video with it easily. It also embeds many special effects, you can even add text to video or add background music, that's pretty cool. It worth a try

Hope it helps. Contact me if you have any other question

What editing software comes with a JVC Everio GZ-MG630?

VinnyFooFo

And is the software any good? Like what are some of the features?
It said the video files a mpeg2. Not .tod

mpeg2 is the same as mp2 right?

Answer
Video editing software included in the box with any consumer camcorder is useless.

To answer your question, likely CyberProducer, CyberDirector or something like that - it is in the camcorder's manual - download the camcorder's manual from the JVC support area. It's only useful "feature" is that it can deal with the funky .TOD files JVC HDD camcorders use. You can convert these yourself with StreamClip or HandBrake. Then you can use MovieMaker... or if you want real consumer-grade video editing software (rather than free/bundled stuff), Sony Vegas.

Does anyone know a good video editing program?

Marissa B

Will import videos from the JVC Everio camera and allows you to upload to YouTube without file converting? I can't convert files on my computer (anti-viruse zips the folders for the programs I download and won't let me download the program to un-zip it.) Please if anyone know of one please let me know. I'd perfer the price to be no more then $60 dollars. Possibly about $50? Please help.

Please and thank you.
It also needs to work with Windows Vista.

Answer
OK! Get this Video editing software, it is cheap and easy to use:

What are some powerful PC laptops or video and music editing?

I need a powerful high end laptop to use for editing HD movies. Also, I will be running pro tools on it to record music. What are some things I should look out for?

Thanks
* for video and music editing

Answer
You basically want something that has a fast processor, and serious RAM power. The higher these numbers, the better for you.

http://www.audioneeds.com/forums/content.php?3-The-Startup-Studio

Also, you should seriously consider joining a community like http://www.audioneeds.com - it's a great forum filled with sound engineers that are always asking and answering questions and discussing techniques in mixing and recording. I think it'll help you a lot since you are interested in recording so much. :)

Good luck my friend!

Mac or PC laptops for video editing?

rymen7

I plan to make skateboard videos and want to no if a Mac or PC laptop would be better??

Answer
Good gawds - talk about childish answers. We've obviously got Mac and PC fans that have no real information other than promoting their favorite platform.

The truth is - EITHER. But out of the box I would say a Mac simply because iMovie is far superior to Windows Movie Maker. Although WMM has become a fairly usable program with each consecutive release.

If you plan on using something more powerful than iMovie or WMM - say something in the prosumer category like Adobe Premiere Pro on the PC or Final Cut Pro on the Mac then use the platform of your choice. Bare this in mind - a lower end laptop PC won't cut it - but you won't have to spend the change you'd have to spend on a Mac. A Core2 duo CPU, 2 Gig or RAM or more, a good sized hard drive and a IEEE1394 interface (firewire/iLink) will get you started. Personally I'd stay away from AMD CPUs, but that's your choice. I'd also upgrade from a Vista 32bit OS to the 64bit Ultimate. You can pick up a laptop like that for under $1000 pretty easily.

Basic Video editing website/program?

Sammee

I would like to make basic edits to a video, like putting two videos together and cutting out pieces of the video. I have a HP laptop with Windows 7. I don't know if it has a video editing program (I looked but didn't find anything) or if there is a free website I could use. This will most likely be a one-time thing.

Thanks

Answer
Go to Gismo's site (link below) and find something you like. Windows Movie Maker sucks.
I use OpenShot, PiTiVi and Avidemux on my 2 year old cheap HP laptop (G62). I run LinuxMint.

Is this a good desktop to get for video editing?

Josh

http://www.amazon.com/Dell-i660-3036BK-Inspiron-Desktop/dp/B009JGTVOM/ref=dp_ob_title_ce

I am also looking at this one, it is pretty much the same pc but with windows 7 instead of 8.

http://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-i660-5030BK-Desktop-Black/dp/B0084C392W/ref=sr_1_19?ie=UTF8&qid=1351916733&sr=8-19&keywords=i5+desktops
It isn't that i need the power but it's just when i encode a video to shrink its size it really bogs down my laptop, Also i want a good desktop for reasons to do with comfort because it's hard to do video editing on a laptop comfortably.

Answer
Hi Josh,

These are both fairly basic entry level machinges for video editing. The demands on a machine for "video editing" can vary widely depending on several factors. Are you editing HiDef video or Standard definition? (probably HD these days - or you will be soon). Do you make a lot of edits (transistions, cut and move clips, transitions, crop & zooms, overlayed text, etc.)? The more elaborate the editing, the greater the demand on the machine to encode/render your output. I have to disagree with Robert's comment... video editing and rendering is the highest demand most consumers will ever put on their computers, unless they also happen to be gamers.

The guts of these machines are essentially the same (with the 3036 just being the newer version) and either should be sufficient for fairly simple editing or home movies. Depending on what CPU and memory you have in your laptop, I expect either will be a very noticable impovement.

However, there are some difference that might be worth your consideration. The 5030 model has 8 USB ports compared to 6 on the 3036. However the 5030 only has 2 USB3 ports - while the 3036 has 4 of its 6 ports being USB3. If you use a lot of peripherals it might be worth the extra 2 ports. But I'd go for the 'future-proofing' of having more USB 3, which is 8-10 times faster transferring data than USB 2. At the very least you'll probably want to connect an external hard drive for saving your videos. Since rendering times seemed to be a concern for you, if you use separate drives for your source material and your output files when editing and encoding, you'll also see an improvement in rendering times - especially with USB 3. (BTW - USB 3 ports will work with USB 2 peripherals... but you won't get any speed benefit unless both the peripheral and the computer port are USB 3.)

The 3036 also has bluetooth. Doesn't mater if you're not going to use it for anything, but bluetooth is becoming more common and you might use it in the future.

Neither of these machines have a BluRay burner, only DVD. If you want to output to a disc in HD you'll need a BluRay burner. DVD burners can only record in SD. But, you don't need it to be built into the machine (although it's less expensive that way)... you could use an external BluRay burner. Or you can install an internal BluRay burner later.

I definately prefer editing on a desktop... and for the costs these days for a second monitor, there's nothing else that will give you a better bang for your buck for improving your worklow and reducing your editing time. Although they don't specifiy what graphics cards are in these machines, the pictures show cards that should support 2 monitors. But, I'd want to be sure of that.

I'm currently looking to upgrade my computer for imporved video editing as well, and I will be staying away from Windows 8 for now. Windows 7 is an established and proven OS with high reliability for video editing. Win 8 is brand new and has too many unknowns re: compatibility with editing software, peripherals, etc. (Windows 7 PRO vs. home tends to do somewhat better for video editing, but Win 7 Home will work okay for light - moderate projects.) Win 8 also a significantly different interface, meaning an added learning curve before being able to use it effortlessly.

So, if you're just dabbling with video editing and looking to do fairly simple edit/combining of something like home movies, these will do. But if you're thinking of getting into more complex editing or perhaps serious hobbying... you might find yourself outgrowing these machines fairly quickly.
You might want to consider calling Dell directly and letting them coach you through configuring a machine more specifically to you needs. You're only saving $1 buying thru AMZ (and maybe shipping). It's truly astounding what you can get for under a grand these days!!!

BTW - Dell has a reputation for not always having the latest drivers installed, which sometimes causes problems with video work. If you go Dell, I'd recommend going to their website (or the components manufacturers sites) and updating all drivers before installing your video editing software. Good luck on your search and have fun!

Jessica

Answer
How about three very good freeware video editor programs, Freemake, FileLab, or VSDC? Each is safe, fully functioning, no watermarks, will not ask for money, and are recent releases that are HD capable.

They are listed in order of increasing capabilities. Freemake provides merging of video clips, and simple editing such as cutting and splicing. It will also automatically upload your video to YouTube if desired. It is also capable of converting your video to just about any video format in existence. FileLab has much more features, such as color correction, title editor, and special effects. VSDC is an advanced editor, capable of effects such as green screen editing. The following link has more info, but make sure to also view other articles on this site, as they outline other capabilities of these three programs.:

Should i get a video camera or editing software?

Ripple

Me and some friends are doing a very dedicated youtube channel and we are trying to decide whether to spend all our money on a camera or a save a bit more and get sony vegas pro. I have an iphone 5 and we have been recording videos with that so which should we get?

Answer
well, you need a camera first in order to use the video editing software. I would go with getting a good quality camera then save up if you can and then buy the software.

IPhone 5 or Galaxy S3?

Matt

Just wondering which overall is a better phone...

Answer
The iPhone5
Video calls on tap.
FaceTime works right out of the box â no need to set up a special account or screen name. And using it is as easy as it gets. Letâs say you want to start a video call with your mom. Find her entry in your contacts and tap the FaceTime button. Or tell Siri, âFaceTime with Mom.â Or maybe youâre already talking to her and you want to switch to video. Just tap the FaceTime button and get ready to smile.

Switch between cameras.
iPhone 5 has a camera on the front â perfectly tuned for FaceTime chatting â and an iSight camera on the back. You can switch between cameras during a call. So whoever youâre chatting with can see you, or they can see what you see.

See more of the web.
Get the most out of the web with the 4-inch Retina display on iPhone. Text is crisp. Images are sharp. And you can see more of every page.

Browse faster.
The A6 chip on iPhone 5 loads web pages faster than ever. Combine that with ultrafast wireless, and youâll spend less time waiting and more time browsing.

Read without ads. Or a connection.
Tap the Reader icon in Safari to read web articles without ads or distractions. Save interesting web pages to your Reading List, so you can read them later â on any device â even when you canât connect to the Internet.

Safari and iCloud.
iCloud Tabs shows the web pages you have open on all your devices, so you can pick up browsing wherever you left off. iCloud saves your bookmarks across all your devices, too. Learn more about iCloud

Get more out of your videos.
The backside illumination sensor and large aperture on the iSight camera let in more light, so videos are brighter. Auto white balance and improved noise reduction help you take great videos in almost any setting. And better image stabilization steadies every shot.

Take photos while recording.
Now you can snap still images while simultaneously shooting 1080p HD video. So even your videos make for a great photo op.

Trim to edit.
Trim clips right on iPhone. Drag to select start and end points on a filmstrip. Or make a movie or trailer in iMovie â complete with titles, transitions, and your own soundtrack. Learn more about iMovie for iPhone

Share your videos faster.
The videos you shoot on iPhone 5 are 20 percent smaller in file size but retain their full-resolution quality. Which means they take less time to email or send via MMS. And they look as good as ever.

Take even better photos.
The 8MP iSight camera on iPhone 5 has improved HDR capabilities for better color and tone and reduced motion blur. Even in low-light situations, the iSight camera catches beautifully detailed shots.

Shoot panorama photos.
Capture more of what you see with the new panorama feature. Just tap to shoot and move the camera across the scene â up to 240 degrees. The gyroscope, A6 chip, and Camera app work together to create one seamless shot. And with a resolution of up to 28 megapixels, every shot is stunning.

Edit your photos.
Remove red-eye, crop, rotate, and enhance photos right on iPhone â without the help of photo editing software on a computer. For even more editing options, try iPhoto for iPhone.

Share your photos.
Take your favorite moments and share them with friends and family. Just select a photo from the Photos app and tap the Share button. Post it to Facebook, tweet it, or share with only the people you want using Shared Photo Streams in iCloud. Learn more about iCloud

More beautiful maps.
Elements in Maps are vector based, so graphics and text are incredibly detailed â even when you zoom all the way in â and panning is smooth. Use the tilt and rotate gestures to view an area, and Maps keeps the names of streets and places where they belong.

Turn-by-turn navigation.
As you approach a turn, Maps speaks the directions, so you can watch the road. Follow along with 3D views: Signs and arrows make it easy to see where youâre headed. And if trafficâs bad, Maps offers alternative routes.

Traffic info.
Maps uses real-time traffic conditions to calculate your ETA. Youâll also get details about incidents that are causing traffic jams, so you can tell if thereâs a major accident ahead or just a temporary slowdown.

Flyover.
See the world from a whole new perspective with photo-realistic and interactive 3D views of select major metro areas. Explore like never before as you zoom, pan, and rotate around a city and its landmarks.

How will my laptop work with mass amounts of video, photo, and music editing?

Q. I recently bought a 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display and had it upgraded to 2.8 GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, with TurboBoost up to 3.8GHz and 768 GB of flash storage. I was wondering how well would it work with massive amounts of photo, video, and music editing along with capability to play intense game with hardcore graphics also to hold a lot of storage of constant 10 to 20 minute long videos added a day, can it do all of this without crashing constantly but rarities are accepted and if storage is the only true problem I am willing to get an external storage device. I am posting this because I am a starting photographer, somewhat a director, a student, and overall entertainer. I also am asking because even though when I did the research it all seemed to check out I was wondering if any experts or people with personal experience could shine some light upon this because I've had many laptops that cant seem to handle extensive editing of all kinds from programs like those created by Adobe, and cant handle the storage for the videos and also crash during downloads of high quality games or during the actual gameplay. I'd like to hear many people's opinions and am open to suggestions. Thank you.

Answer
Files in storage do not cause system crashes. To store massive amounts of data, you will need some external drives. My Mac tower had four internal drives and four external drives. I don't use any of my Mac notebooks for video editing, except a bit of touch up on location. I can't deal with intense editing on a tiny 15" screen.

Notebook computers don't play games at highest level all day without some over-heating.... unless the notebook is almost 2 inches thick (Alienware) to allow large fans and air space inside for cooling.

If you use several high-RAM apps simultaneously, such as Final Cut Pro, Photoshop and Handbrake, the system will use scratch space / virtual memory, and that will cause slow operation, but not necessarily a crash.

Notebook computers are designed for multi-tasking on the go, but in recent years, a trend has skyrocketed for "bolting down" a notebook, and using it as if it were a desktop. It would make much more sense for these people to buy a desktop, like the Mac Pro http://www.apple.com/mac-pro/ or an all-in-one, like the iMac.

Best Laptop for Video Editing?

Q. So I have been saving up money for a new laptop for awhile now and am looking to invest it in the best possible laptop for primarily video editing. Currently my laptop has plenty of memory and ram but the processor is only at 1.5 GHz and is an HP Laptop. I think that there's intel processor's with a 3.6 Ghz and wondering if I should try for something like that? Or if there is a specific laptop or even just a laptop that has the compatibility to upgrade to a higher processor like that it would be great.

The use would involve heavy RAW filed photo and video editing along with special effects design and music editing.
Thank you.

Answer
You need something with a good processor, and a ***tload of RAM.

Look for:
i7-3610QM, i7-3630QM, i7-3840QM
16GB+ RAM
Graphics card doesn't matter.
256GB+ Solid State Drive

You didn't list your budget, but this build could easily cost upwards of $1500 or more.

I rarely say this on YAnswers, but a desktop is a more practical solution for heavy video editing if you want it done fast.
Disregard that if you really want a laptop.

Camtasia studio fuzzy?:??????

Fatyonthel

i use camtasia studio and save it as avi and when i upload to youtube its all fuzzy take a look and why???

http://nz.youtube.com/watch?v=V4VN1D2Fko4

Answer
First off No one ever heard of camtasia, my guess it is some free program.
When you do Video and Editing, you have to start with High quality product to begin with not a copy from some other source.
Like in Photo Editing when you use a copy of a copy it will turn out like a 2nd graders finger painting.
If you expect professional results you must use professional software. Read this link it should help.

Sony CX190 Handycam is right for me?

Q. I've been meaning to upgrade my old JVC SD camcorder which I brought 2006.
What I like about the CX190E is its on sale for NZ$373 normally NZ$499. It's Sony. And it's got Dolby Digital mic/audio and looks great.
What I don't like about CX190E is it only does 1080i (not 1080p) and only 50 frames not 60 frames.
Was considering the Panasonic V100 but not really into the Panasonic brand.
CX190 has 25-30x zoom and 300x digital zoom. Panasonic V100 has about 42x optical zoom.
I'm only going to be using it for when I'm on holidays like going to Auckland Zoo, or just for fun. Wonder if it has good editing easy-use software to put onto Youtube. Can the CX190 do 42x zoom without too much yuckiness to the video image quality? Any good responses would be great. Notice the camcorder can take 5.3MP still pictures which is still good. I ain't no professional photographer but still know how to use a camcorder and will be using it for holidays and for fun and posting maybe stuff on Youtube.

Answer
New Zealand use PAL standard video (North America uses NTSC).

PAL is 25 frames per second. 50 interlaced frames per second = 25 progressive frames per second.
NTSC = 30 frames per second. 60 interlaced frames per second = 30 progressive frames per second.

You did not tell us what you plan to play back the video on. 99.999% of the worlds population cannot tell if video was captured at 1080interlaced or 1080progressive. Chances are very high you are part of the 99.999%.

Optical zoom is useful. Digital zoom is useless and should be turned off as soon as you get whatever camera/camcorder you decide to get. Digital zoom is a non-feature and should be dropped from your comparison list.

Software that comes in the box with the camcorder is useless. MovieMaker (Windows) and iMovie (Macintosh) are fine for people who do not need to get too fancy. You did not tell us what computer you are using or what operating system is on the computer so we have no way to know which you should have. If your computer is more than a few years old, it is possible that it is not capable of dealing with the high compression AVCHD (MTS) files this (and most other consumer camcorders in the same price range) record.

Camcorders are designed to capture video and audio. Capturing stills is possible - but it is a "convenience feature". Conversely, with still image cameras - they are designed to capture stills and capturing video (and audio) is a "convenience feature".

The "process flow" is:
Capture video using camcorder
import to video editor
cut the crummy parts
add scene transitions
add titles
render to uploadable file (WMV or AVI from Windows; MOV or MP4 for Macintosh)
Upload to YouTube.

If you plan to use the zoom to its fullest, please use some sort of steadying device. Humans are not steady. Use of zoom makes movement seems much more. If you have access to binoculars, use them. Look at the sides of the image as you are looking at something far away. Lot of shake. Stabilization in the camcorder cannot totally fix this (unless you have a current version of iMovie with the "shake" removal feature that works quite well).

The CX190 may be fine for you... personally, I think a mic jack, manual audio control (and auto), and manual focus (and auto) will allow you to "grow" into videography. I like the Canon Legria HF R or HF M series camcorders...

I DO NOT wanna use AVS Video Editor. I used it once already & they put words in the middle of my video. So please help. 10 POINTS BEST ANSWER!!!!!
A PROGRAM FOR EDITING VIDEOS, MAKING A MOVIE, CUTTING SOME SCENES AND OTHER EDITING STUFF. WHAT SHOULD I DOWNLOAD THATS FREE? MY COMPUTER IS A GATEWAY, WINDOWS VISTA HOME PREMIUM.
10 POINTS BEST ANSWER!!!

Answer
Top 5 Free Video Editing Software Programs

There are many free video editing software programs available for download today, but not all of them are good.
Many programs simply don't do what the manufacturers say that they will do, and others don't provide enough - or any support.

Of course, most free software does not include the same level or quality of support that you would expect to find with software that you purchase.

While you should remember that you get what you pay for, there really is some good free video editing software available. Here are the top five that we have found:

Microsoft Movie Maker

Already installed on newer computers that are running Windows XP, Movie Maker has drag and drop features to make creating and editing your movie easier. Microsoft has many add-ons for this software, and upgrades are available through the website. This is one of the best free video editing software programs available.

Apple iMovie
Apple iMovie is comparable to Windows Movie Maker, but Apple iMovie is used on the MAC operating system. Apple iMovie has many advanced features and add-ons. Unfortunately, the software is only free if you buy a new MAC system. If you want the software without buying the system, it is available for purchase. One of the best free video editing programs available for MAC users.

Avid FreeDV

Avid FreeDV is available for both Windows and MAC operating systems, and includes basic video and audio editing capabilities, as well as up to two streams of real-time effects. On the whole, a solid video editing program that is slightly hard to use, but very powerful once you learn its ins and outs.

Wax

Wax is a high performance and flexible free video editing software program. It
started out as a college project, and has since grown. Wax is good for both
home users and professionals. It can be used as a stand-alone application, or
as a plug-in to other video editors. The software also features unlimited video and audio tracks with top-down compositing.

Zwei-Stein

Zwei-Stein is great free video editing software, but the user interface is
very technical. It is full featured, offering many different effects. It can
edit up to 256 video, audio, and still image clips. There are up to 64 effects, which can be chained serially. An interesting program that's worth looking at.

Conclusion

Microsoft Movie Maker for Windows users, and Apple iMovie for MAC users are probably the two easiest to use free video editing software programs available. Both of the products will allow you to do what you want to do with your videos. However, trying out the others, you may find that you are able to add more effects and such to your videos as well. Of all the available programs out there, these are the top five free video editing software programs available.

Video editing software.?

Q. So I used to use Windows live movie maker to edit my game recordings as it had the codec required. But now windows live movie maker has changed to a crap movie maker that crashes and freezes. I have sony vegas 10 but it doesn't have the codec AVI to edit my recordings. So now I don't know what to do. Any help would be much appreciated :)
But when i try to import it says it doesn't have the codec AVI it's not the rendering it's the importing that's the problem :)
Anyone know how I could fix this problem with Sony Vegas? It's a good programme. If only I could use it.

What is a good free editing software for kodak HD videos?

Q. The videos are mp4 and its from a kodak camera. I want free software that will allow me to edit and put clips together without decreasing quality. Like if I have to clips, I want to be able to combine them as one!

Answer
According to my knowledge, video file exported from kodak camera could not be read by many software. You may try to change the file extension with a software. You could try the one I am using, not only help you to convert kodak video file, but allows you to combine video files into one, add effects, adjust settings to keep the original quality. Have a try.

What is a good video editing software?

Q. I have Windows Movie Maker but it doesn't support my Kodak Zi6 videos! (I don't feel like converting them!) So is there a good one like Windows Movie Maker that supports Quicktime & .MOV videos? PLEASE HELP!

Answer
Highly recommend womble mpeg video wizard dvd.

I had quite a play around with a lot of video editing software, and settled on mpeg video wizard dvd. Simple, effective, can do some advanced things, but easy to make up something simple. It can directly edit the mov files. I think it's a great choice for the step up from windows movie maker.

If you are after a little extra, Adobe, the video package(Premiere, After effects) is well, it's just a lot harder to use all the advanced stuff though.

You could download the trial version from their website and have a try.

adobe: http://www.adobe.com/
womble: http://womble.com/

That's my experince anyway, and i edit video almost everyday, it's my job.

Good luck.

Best Laptop For Video Editing?

Q. I'm not a Mac user, and I'd like to continue using Sony Vegas Pro, with Windows XP.
My laptop is older however, so when I try to preview videos, it's slow and choppy since I have an HD camcorder.

What are some recommendations for laptops?
What type of processor, how many ghz, 5400 rpm or 7200, what brand, how big of ram, how much memory?

I'm a comp wiz, but I haven't had much experience with HD cams.
I just want the video to run smoothly, so I can edit properly.

Thank you!

Answer
SONY VAIO and IBM thinkpads are best for Input -Output peripheral transfer data range .
320 gb-7200 rpm with atleast 4GB of ram and 64-bit OS will definitely pull up u outta these kinda probs ... U can also increase ur RAM if u want to make it much faster . By increasing ur RAM , u can use the RAM as caching purposes by using software like EBOOSTR or RAMDISK on the basis of the fact that RAMS are much faster than pendrives and hardisks and can support a very high data storage speed and ya must buy it with Graphics Card coz graphic card includes its on supersonic memory and processor (256mb -512 mb is ok).
I recommended 64-bit OS coz these OS are only capable to use a LARGE RAM for ram 3GB above .
U ve discussed above about HD cams .. so Graphics card in playing such HD videos will help u alot as i ve already said above . U ll able to encode and decode the multiple videos at the same time with a high spedd and great performance , with troubleshoot ;)

here are some specs

Processor T6400 or T7700 or T8x00(intel) / TL-60 and above (AMD)
Graphics card with DEDICATED 256mb RAM atleast(not shared but dedicated)
250 or 320 GB ,7200rpm disk
4gb -6GB RAM and windows 64-bit on one partition and 32-bit on other partition(an option to boot from 2 windows will be asked while booting)

thats it .........
Simply go for FULLY LOADED laptop of SONY VAIO or IBM thinkpad with these CONFIG . u ll get everything in these in a very reasonable and affordable price .

Free Video Editing Program for Sony Vaio Laptop?

Okay, so i have a lot of Christmas videos i took from my laptop and i want to edit them together and put music into it. Can someone tell me a good place to get a FREE video editing program? And maybe even a NON-downloadable program. And i don't want it to take up a lot of memory.

Answer
good Video editing software is not available for free. however, you could use Windows Movie Maker to edit the videos. in case u r using Vista OS, then you can download Windows movie maker from Microsoft web site.

from memory, if you mean the size of the video file, then this depends up on the file format in which you wish to save the final video output. you can save the file in AVI, MPEG 2, MPEG 4 etc formats. the size of each file format is different. while creating the video, the software will give you these details as well. according, you may decide which format to use.

What computer should I get for video editing? 21 inch Imac, 13 inch Macbook Pro (2012), or Alienware mx14?

Q. I want to get a new computer for video editing. I use Adobe Premiere, FCP X (Sometimes), and After Effects. Although I would want an Imac, im on the fence if i should get a laptop instead. Laptop wise, Im considering the 13 inch Macbook pro or the Alienware mx14. The macbook pro is Mac (I prefer os x over windows) so i can still use FCP and it has the ivy bridge processor. The alienware looks awesome, and you can customize settings such as graphic cards and screen resolution. In addition it has a blue ray player and im also into gaming. But laptops over heat, in which the imac doesnt as much. Which should i get? (BTW I have a budget of 1700, so I cant get the mac pro)

Answer
21 inch iMac, is great for video editing. Big screen, bright display. For the graphics, the Alienware will run smooth for video editing, you'll get good FPS. MacBook Pro not much great for video editing, small screen.

best video&picture editing 13-14" laptop?

Q. hey there! I've been looking for a new laptop that's really good for picture & video editing, under $1000. I'm really interested in a laptop that I can carry around, any suggestions? thaankyouu for your time (:

Answer
You don't need to spent $1000 for a laptop for best video and picture when you can get all of the requirement with relatively less price. ASUS VivoBook X202E-DH31T is one of the option for which you can opt for because of its good processor and portable size which is your requirement as well.

Look at this for further details:

http://www.amazon.com/VivoBook-X202E-DH31T-11-6-Inch-Touch-Laptop/dp/B009F1I1C4/ref=zg_bs_565108_6/186-7454226-0721317&tag=faowiw-20

It has further features which includes Intel Core i3-3217U 1.8 GHz Processor which is really good one to have for video and picture editing and 4 GB DDR3. It has a storage of 500 GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive and 11.6-Inch LED Touchscreen, Intel GMA HD Graphics which is not only small and portable but also touchscreen is a extra nice feature to have. So overall it is really a good laptop with good price.

what is a good free video software program that i can download to make youtube vid?

KING JAMES

Answer
2) VirtualDub : VirtualDub is a video capture/processing utility for 32-bit and 64-bit Windows platforms (98/ME/NT4/2000/XP/Vista/7), licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL). It lacks the editing power of a general-purpose editor such as Adobe Premiere, but is streamlined for fast linear operations over video. It has batch-processing capabilities for processing large numbers of files and can be extended with third-party video filters. VirtualDub is mainly geared toward processing AVI files, although it can read (not write) MPEG-1 and also handle sets of BMP images.

3) T@b ZS4 Video Editor : ZS4 Video Editor is free to download and use. It is video editing and compositing software which aims to provide media experts with a facility to combine a variety of media types(currently photos, videos and audio files) into one or more output files.

4) Wax :Wax is a high performance and flexible video compositing and special effects software. The idea for Wax is to be very general purpose and flexible in video compositing and effects, so that you can compose your dream video sequence with ease everytime.Wax can create 2D & 3D special effects and can work in two modes â as a standalone application which would appeal for home users/beginners, and as a âplug-inâ to video editors/NLEs which would be more useful for professional editors.

5) Cinefx Jashaka : Cinefx is an offline playback, editing, encoding, animation and visual effects tool based on the Jahshaka technology that allows you to create professional digital media on your desktop. Use the tools that hollywood uses to create blockbuster films and special effects.

6) Blender : Blender is the free open source 3D content creation suite, available for all major operating systems under the GNU General Public License. It is one of the powerful, multi-use editing/compositing and modeling tool. This tool allows you to edit, create 3D graphics, sound effects, add special effects and much more.

7) Avidemux : Avidemux is a free video editor designed for simple cutting, filtering and encoding tasks. It supports many file types, including AVI, DVD compatible MPEG files, MP4 and ASF, using a variety of codecs. Tasks can be automated using projects, job queue and powerful scripting.

8 ) MovieStorm : Moviestorm is the complete 3D movie making software application for all abilities. Whether your movie interest is cartoons, crime, music, horror etc, you can create awesome animation effects using this software.

9) Movica : Movica is just a graphical user interface that uses some fine programs to edit movie files. A great deal of emphasis has been placed on keyboard shortcuts to make the job of editing easier. Basically, it is meant for editing the kind of movies that VirtualDub wonât. V-Dub is primarily an AVI editor, Movica will work on .wmv, .flv, .rm and .mpg files. This makes it more versatile than Virtualdub.

10) Video Spin : VideoSpin, free editor based on Studio, does a pretty darn good job compared with most free video tools. It doesnât match the qualities of paid softwares but perform basic editing and output movies pretty easily.

11) AVIedit : It is a great tool to work with .AVI files. Regardless of small executable size, this avi editor offers you unlimited power of digital video processing. AVIedit allows you to join and split avi files, extract frames and do whatever you want⦠You can capture video by number of ways, including one-frame-per-minute (web camera) option, workaround annoying 2 Gb file size limit, send your videos to printer, heavy compress it and post to your webpage.

12) StoryBoard Pro Software : Atomic Learningâs FREE Video StoryBoard Pro is designed to give teachers, students, and home movie makers a tool to plan ahead when creating video projects. Editing Software?

Q. What's a good editing/ movie making software? I'm making some videos which are a mix of real life but also machinima (machine+cinimea ex Sims 2 and Halo movies). But I'm on a low budget for this, maybe only up to $200 at the most. Any reccomendations?
I have a PC by the way if that helps. I'm just looking for alternatives to Windows Movie Maker.

Answer
Welcome to the wonderful world of video editing. You are in a good price range for your level of editing. There are several options between $40 and $200. I recommend two products in that range, capable of handling what you are looking to do. The first is Adobe Premiere elements bundled with Photoshop Elements. Last I checked this was around $150 or so. This software is relatively easy to use with several powerful options available. Plus Photoshop is often used in video production for creating Masks and Mattes. Alternatively there is Sony Movie Studio 8 Platinum(Also $150 at Target). This is a little harder to use but has the advantage of using the same engine as it's professional cousin and can be upgraded at a later time. It also comes with several effects and sound effects library. In my opinion this is better for effects, and Premiere is better for things like documentaries that require titles and still images.

At the $400 range you can begin to get professional software like NewTek's Speed Edit. This is a great program to start out with as a video professional, though it does lack some of the features of Final Cut and Premiere CS3. If you look around you can also find Sony Vegas pro 8 at the $450 range. (I bought this two weeks ago at Amazon.com)

I think for your application, Vegas is the way to go. It will handle the different formats and aspect ratios from real life and machinima. You should download the free 30 day trial at the Sony creative software site and try it.

Is there any video editing software that allows you to...?

Q. block out wording that other editors have added?

Answer
Depends what your needs are. If you want them to disappear totally and look like they have never been there, then most any video editing program can do that. I do believe every Video Editing Program has a Frame capture effect, which can get the frame your timeline indicator is sitting on and make a Bit Map image of it. You could take that Bit Map and with great time expense and patience erase the wording. Then delete that frame your Indicator is on and add your new frame. Do this for every frame and your done.

Another way involves using a Multi or endless Timeline Video Editing Program. Put your video on the Timeline, then put images where the words are, using a PSC printer or scanner, get colored paper images that just cover the words. Use the Pan and crop or PIP effect or similar to place the paper image over the text. Get creative and add text on top of the paper, either when scanned or with a text effect showing over top of the paper.

Pinnacle Studio and Sony Vegas Pro are two of the very many Video Editing Programs that have Multi Timeline abilities.

Gaming video editing software? YOUTUBE?

Q. I'm going to make my first youtube gaming video, and I bought a screen camera (to record my screen), and a video camera to record my face.
Is there a software where you can put videos in another video?
Or record games and your face.
Thanks

Answer
That is called PIP (Picture in Picture) Effect.

Windows Movie Maker can do PIP effects too

It will be too long to post all the steps, here you can get the tutorial

Is this a good laptop for video editing?

theinforme

I want a decent laptop for editing videos.
Heres the link http://www.walmart.com/ip/Toshiba-15.6-250-GB-L455D-S5976/12456201. I'm using Sony Vegas 10.0 Platinum Edition and a easy cap DC60. Please answer fast. Thank you.

Answer
nope, graphic card, RAM and processor suck. You're not going to get a video editing laptop for under $800 or so.

with a desktop you might get away with $500 (w/o screen).

Important for a video editing computer:
-graphic card: try at least 1GB of v ram. if not 512mb might be ok.
-RAM: atleast 4GB
-processor: for a laptop try for at least an i5. you could also try amd equivelent (i'm not familiar with them)

Is hp dm4-1162us a good laptop for video editing?

Q. As everybody knows white friday...oh I mean black friday is coming and I am planning to try my luck and see if I could buy a hp dm4-1162us from office depot. Now I dont know how good is this laptop for video editing because the the video graph is a Intel HD Graphics with up to 1696MB shared memory. Please if somebody could give me some advice I would totally appreciate. Thank you.
By the way my budget is pretty limited and that is why I can't afford a better laptop; however if somebody knows a better laptop around $600 please let me know. I know the mac are the best but I can't even dream for one. This hp dm4 is going cost around $550.

Answer
well, HP dm4-1162us has a great deal to bought in a price of $549.99. I bought this laptop today (Black Friday). It has great processor, i5 and has turbo boost technology. As what I had researched on, this laptop is very ideal for students and pretty decent. However, if you will go to the link below (review of this laptop) you'll notice that this is not really intended for multimedia purposes. But this laptop is great for everyday usage. There are more to look in Best Buy but I'm not exactly if they have good laptop for multimedia purposes with the budget you have.

I did struggle to look for great laptops with a reasonable price too. In my opinion, if you're not in rush to get a new laptop, why don't you wait for awhile? There is still upcoming holidays next month and for sure there are great deals again. But I think, all over HP dm4-1162us is nice.

Hope it helped ;)
