I know there are other laptops specially for video editing but I have decided to get an alienware laptop (M15x or M17x still undecided) because I know Alienwares can run games very well. But I am also into video editing so I was just wondering if Alienwares can do it? I think they should be able to because they have quad-core processors but I just want someone who has one or knows a lot about them to tell me about it.

Answer
With this one, you can easily capture, edit and share your video like a pro,but it need to pay,if you have interested, just have a look.

What is a good laptop for video-editing?

IckleAnn

I currently have a Dell Inspiron 15 and it used to have a battery life of an hour and a half and now has a battery life of under 20 minutes. I've had it for about three years now and when I try to edit videos from my nikon d5100, it gets really slow. My brother says it's because it's too old and can't handle it or something. I was wondering what a good laptop for video editing is. Yes, I want a laptop because a PC is too big for my room and I need it to be portable...(the laptop should also be on the affordable side O______O)

Answer
When editing video RAM becomes a major issue along with having a large amount of hard disk space to use a s a virtual drive. Personally I use a HP DV7 with two I7 processors, 8GB RAM and 2TB disk space. You can probably get away with an 5 and 1TB of disk space, but I would say that you should try for that 8GB RAM, it will make a huge difference in photo and video editing- which make? It doesn't really matter unless you have the money to shell out for Alienware and their speed optimised machines, but that comes at a hefty premium

what is the best laptop to get for video editing image

Josh

I'm looking into getting a new laptop, mainly for video editing. Would a gaming laptop such as a "Battalion 101 W170ER Gaming Laptop" work? Is it good for JUST gaming, or does that mean it just has high graphics? I'm not looking into any gaming, just high-end video editing.

Answer
Gaming computers usually have very high specs, and they should work great for video editing, but they're also very expensive! If you're not going to be gaming with it, it's probably overkill. Look into getting something with a powerful CPU, and at least 4GB of RAM , but without the unnecessary gingerbread and price of a computer built for gaming.

Video cards are for calculating and drawing 3D graphics. You don't need a mega good one for editing and playing videos - that is handled by the CPU.

What specifications are best for video editing on a macbook pro?

Mckaykay

It looks like the macbook pro is the best laptop for video editing. I just want to know how big the hard drive should be, how much memory etc... Also, I use Final Cut Pro at school, but i dont have enough money to buy it for myself, so is Final Cut Express similar enough where I would be able to bring school projects home to work on with Final cut Express?

Answer
4gb of ram is adequate, as for the hard drive 500gb + if the vids are of any real size - final cut express has more than enough features for most of us, you just need to make sure you dont use any features in only in pro and then try to use in express, but it should work fine.

video editing software for Canon XL2 video camera?

runningman

I am looking at buying a canon XL2 video camera, what video editing software do you recomend to use with this computer. I would like to edit the software on my PC with windows xp

Answer
Since the XL2 does standard definition DV, any video editor should be just fine - it depends how sophisticated you want to get. So... MovieMaker is bundled with Windows XP (SP2). If you want more sophisticated video editing capabilities, Sony Vegas and Adobe Premiere always float to the top.

Your bigger issue is getting the video into your computer. ALL miniDV tape based camcorders transfer video the same way. Your computer needs a firewire port. If it does not have one, hopefully it has an expansion slot so you can add one. You also need a firewire cable.

Firewire400, IEEE1394a, DV and i.LINK are all the same thing. USB won't work. USB-firewire adapter/converters won't work, either.

Connect the firewire cable to the DV port of the camcorder and the firewire port of the computer. Camcorder needs to be in "Play" or "VCR" mode. MovieMaker will capture the video.

Get the XL2's instruction manual at canon.com
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=326&modelid=10350
Refer to page 101.

Why does my computer crash when using video editing software?

video editing software sony
on step 3 convert sony bloggie mp4 sony bloggie hd mp4
video editing software sony image

Alex

My computer seems to crash when I am using video editing software like Sony vegas and it only seems to happen on Sony Vegas and I am not to sure on what it could be.One of my guess's so far is that it might be my ram but I don't even think there might be a option to change the amount of ram the program uses any suggestions would be very very helpful.

Answer
Your computer is probably just not powerful enough.

It could very well be running out of RAM. (By the way, you can't tell a program how much RAM it can use)
You could try using Window's "ReadyBoost." Readyboost allows your computer to use removable media (i.e. a flash drive) as extra RAM.

Here's how to use readyboost
Get a Flash drive, plug it in; view its properties and go to the ReadyBoost tab; enable readyboost and select however much memory you want readyboost to use. Hit Apply...wait a minute or two...and hit OK.
Done.
Theoretically, the computer will now have more memory to use as RAM.

If that doesn't help, then another possible solution is that your computer's processor might be limited -- if you're on a laptop. Laptops have "Power Plans" that specify how fast the processor can work under different conditions (for example, if the computer is plugged in or not). The faster it is allowed to work, the more power is consumed; hence, Power Plans will generally limit the processor speed when the computer is running off of battery power.

If you have questions about what I wrote here, you can email me through my profile.

What is a great, free video editing software?

Damion E

I need a video software I can use that is free, yet amazing. Almost like a pro video editing software. Something with good effects, and so on. I already have Windows Live Movie Maker, so I am looking for something better than that, once again, for free. Please help. Thank you. :)

Answer
Here are the best of the free video editing programs i have found, and a short little review about each one that i have compiled:
(as with free software there are usually limits, as far as video editors go, free editors usually have lack for file type support, or limited effects)

-Videopad http://www.nchsoftware.com/videopad/index.html (video editing, limited to avi/wmv/asf and DVD. Unlimited audio tracks, text/picture overlay layer, add subtitles easily, 3D support. Not many effects/transitions, but able to import virtualdub effects to be used. Easy to use interface)
-Videospin http://videospin.com/Redesign/ (video editing, limited to avi/mpg-1/wmv, 2 extra audio tracks, text/picture overlay layer, title/credits, easy to use interface. No extra effects.)
-Lightworks http://www.lightworksbeta.com/ (video editing, requires matrox VFM codec + quicktime installed, requires 3gb+ of ram. Lots of video effects. Support for all formats. 3D support. Harder to use interface)
-TrakAxPC http://www.trakax.com/software/pc/download/ (video editing, limited to avi/wmv and mp3/wma/wav/oog/flac formats, Lots of effects. Clunky interface)

-Wax http://www.debugmode.com/wax/download.htm (2d/3d video effects, only works with .avi files, harder to use interface)
wax is kind of like a vary limited stripped down version of after effects. But its the only effects comp software that is free so, no choice really.

Video converter, so you can convert videos so they can be used with above software (remember when converting video, you are compressing it, and when you compress it you will lose quality you can not get back. If you leave all the parameters of the video the same as source, the quality loss is usually barely noticeable. Also remember just like audio, you can NOT increase quality.)
-Freemake video converter http://freemake.com (convert to many types of videos, very easy to use)

And lastly audio editor for editing audio or music in your videos:
-Audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/ (you will need to get the lame mp3 encoder and ffmpeg addons from the download page. Also id suggest getting extra plugins aswell)

I'm looking to buy a new laptop and I haven't used anything but Mac for over three years. I know Toshiba makes a decent laptop but what about these Samsung laptops? What are the top PC brands for laptops these days? I do a lot of video editing (hobby) so I need at least 6GB Memory to handle HD video. I have a 2TB external Hard Drive so the hard drive space on the computer doesn't need to be enormous. Any suggestions and links?
Not looking to spend more than like $800 for a laptop.

Answer
I found some and you can choose any one from these. I would recommend getting you HP Pavilion DV8 but I guess HP aren't making laptops anymore(rumor). Toshiba laptops are okay but the model of most of those looks pale and almost same. I don't have any experience with Samsung Laptop so I have no idea about it. However my friend has some Samsung Netbook and it is working flawless since a year. Asus laptops are #1 selling on most of the countries according to the internet and provided data from the sellers. They also make awesome ones. My wife has Asus Republic Of Gamers laptop and it can handle any games and applications along with multitasking without any lag.

What kind of laptop is ideal for an artist on the run?

J

Something that is capable of running good photo-editing software, or maybe even video editing software. It could be something lightweight or cheap. What kind of software do you recommend for photo or video editing?

Answer
I suggest either a MacBook or MacBook Pro. Visit apple.com for details on the specifications of those computers. All MacBooks & MacBook Pros come with iPhoto, iMovie and iDVD to allow you edit photos, movies and videos right out of the box. Those are very good programs to start with. Most people in the art, video, photography and design industries use Macs. Macs were designed for artists!!!

The MacBook is the mainstream level laptop, and it gives you a better bang for your buck. The MacBook Pro is the professional laptop line, and it's more expensive. But it has a dedicated graphics card, larger screen and a larger hard drive, which can come in handy for video and photo editing. But which one you get depends on your budget and aspirations. If you plan to do this stuff professionally, I say go with the MacBook Pro. If this is just a hobby and you want to save money, go with the MacBook. Also, today's Intel-based Macs are all capable of running Windows as well (but you have to supply your own copy of Windows). Macs run most graphics software very smoothly. I have a MacBook Pro and I haven't regretted buying it, it's an amazing computer!!!

If you don't want to get a Mac, I suggest checking out the HP or Dell brands. I have had good experience with both.

Final Cut Pro is also a good video editing program, but it's a bit more expensive and has a steeper learning curve. But I believe Final Cut Pro is what the pros use. There are some other good ones as well, here is a site with a breakdown and comparison of features: http://video-editing-software-review.toptenreviews.com/

For photo editing, the industry standard is Adobe Photoshop. It is expensive, but if you plan to do this professionally, look at it as an investment into your future.

Another good photo editing tool is Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, it's cheaper than Photoshop and I think it's very slick. Also, Lightroom was developed specifically for professional photographers. So it's worth checking out!

I use my laptop for the same things that most of you do. Surfing the web, answering emails, downloading musci, and the occasional photo editing (very seldom). How much machine do I REALLY need. I know that the new Duo Core machines are cool and all, but do I really need that much speed. Someone recently told me that a Celeron 1.5 with 512K of ram and 64mb of video is more than enough. Is this true? Also the idea of a Sling Box interest me. Does the Sling Box require a faster machine to use it properly? Thanks in advance.
I know that some of you subscribe to the more, better, greater formula but lets face it, I only need what I need. I don't want to pay double the price for something I do not need. If I can get by with a Celeron instead of a Pentium or Duo Core then that is what I want. I have tried all three syatems by surfing the web with them and I can't tell a difference between them.

Answer
Most of what you hear is hype - the core DUO machines are really use-full in two real world scenarios - if your a gamer or your into digital production. i.e. graphic design / video editing. Would you believe you can still function quite well With a machine running with a proc speed of around 1GHZ. Most are going to argue that this is false or pretentious - but, the hardware we are led to believe as "superior" is really the market attempting to get you to spend 3K on a MAC or duo setup. That type of hardware configuration is really exceptional in needed environments like super- computing or as mentioned above. To run normal computing like e-mail, word processing, DVD burning etc. you can get fine performance from machines, from today's standards, are "inferior" - my advice - don't buy into all the hype.

What is the better laptop a PC or a Mac?

Dan H

I am looking for my first laptop. Which is a better laptop PC or Mac. What is the difference between the two? I am getting it for school but i will also being using it for fun.

Answer
I a film and video guy so I will always say Mac but I am going to be fair when answering this question. Both Mac and PCs have their negatives and positives. Macs have the best operating system (OS) meaning that it is safe and has a lot of power. It is very hard for a virus or hacker to get into your Mac. Macs are also a lot faster than PCs. Everything is faster on a Mac. Even the initial startup is faster. It seems like with a PC, you have time to order a pizza when you start it up. I have heard rumors that Adobe is creating an office suite exclusive to Macs. Need I say more? Now for the negatives. Macs are very expensive. To get the real experience of the power Macs offer, you should spend at least $2500-$3000. Don't let these prices scare you away. You can spend less than $2000 and still be greatly impressed by a Mac. I spent just over $8000 on my Mac Pro desktop. I have a standard monitor and a 30" HD monitor hooked up to my Mac for editing video and film. If that is not an example of the power Macs offer, I don't know what is. For beginners, Macs could be a little difficult.

Now for PCs. I also have a PC that I use for simple things like answering this question. All PCs run on Microsoft. Microsoft is not as evil as people make it out to be, unless you plan on running on Windows Vista. If you choose to get a PC, try to get Windows XP. Vista is still new and has problems. PCs are more office appropriate . They are good for data processing and other office tasks. You can get PCs that have a lot of power but it doesn't compare to Macs. PCs are also a lot cheaper than Macs. You can get a good PC for less that $2000. PCs are more likely to lock up when you are trying to complete tasks that require power such as photo editing, graphic design, film/video editing, etc. Windows OS also has Microsoft Office. Office is an amazing office suite.

In all honesty, I would get a Mac. For what I do, there is not a PC in the world powerful enough to complete the tasks that I complete. I noticed that you are getting a laptop to take to school. Macs are very popular amongst students. If you need a office suite now, Macs can run Microsoft Office. There is a special edition for Macs. Don't get a Mac Book Air. They look cool, but they don't have much storage space on the hard drive. I have included links to where you can configure a Mac Book and a Mac Book Pro. Take a look. I hope this helps. If you choose to get a Mac, great! If you need help choosing the appropriate configurations to get the best performance out of your Mac, please drop me an e-mail and I will be happy to help you select the appropriate hardware.

I recently switched to windows 7 and it does not support windows movie maker. It gave me the option of using windows live movie maker, but it sucks! I want a good free video editing software that allows special effects and transitions. If you know of a fairly inexpensive one let me know! Thanks!

Answer
I'd like to recommend AVS Video Editor to you, I always use it to edit video and make funny video for uploading to Youtube, it's easy to use and the quality is awesome, you can crop, cut, join, edit video with it easily. It also embeds many special effects, you can even add text to video or add
background music, that's pretty cool. It worth a try

I have a Panasonic PV-GS31 camcorder and all my home movies are on mini DV tapes. I have an HP pavilion desktop with windows vista that i was planning to use. The software is Windows Movie Maker. So my problem is that i dont know how to connect my camcorder to my PC. the manuel book says i need a DV cable. Where can i get it? and will it work after that?

Thanks for the help.

Answer
raitoxoda and Kaos are correct... but did not quite complete the answer to your question.

All miniDV tape based camcorders transfer DV-format video from the camcorder to the computer over a firewire connection between the camcorder's DV port and the computer's firewire port. We don't know which HP Pavilion desktop you have, but chances are good that if it does not already have a firewire port, there will be an available PCI slot so you can easily add one. The PCI firewire cards are pretty cheap, too.

Firewire, DV, i.Link and IEEE1394 are all the same thing.

With the camcorder connected to the computer with the firewire cable and the camcorder in "Play" mode, launch MovieMaker and "Capture" the video from the camcorder. Edit. Save. Then, using a DVD authoring application like WinDVD or Nero, you will have the computer render that video project to a format that your computer's DVD writer will burn to a DVD that will play in a regular DVD player...

Belkin and SIIG make good firewire cards. Don't get a Dynex. BestBuy, Frys, Amazon are all good reliabble sources.

The DV port on a camcorder is ALWAYS a 4-pin firewire jack. The firewire port on your computer can be a 4-pin, 6-pin or 9-pin firewire port so don't get a firewire cable until you know what firewire port is on your computer.

How to burn a dvd with mp4 movie including subtitle which can be played at home dvd player?

Megan Vins

I want to burn a dvd with a mp4 movie including its subtitle which can be playable at home dvd player...most importantly without any video quality loss, with subtitle and less weight so that i can burn as many movies as i can in a DVD5 or DVD9...How do i do it?....i need the best answer since i was trying to burn those movies in a dvd 9.But unfortunately,i don't know what's the reason i succesfully burnt it but its not playing in my home dvd player...Do i still need to keep the mp4 format of the movie or do i have to convert it to any other format so that the weight can be less....??

Answer
DVDs that you play in a DVD player do not have mp4's on them they have .vob files. It sounds like you have just burned an .mp4 onto a DVD and expected it to work in a DVD player because it's on a DVD. Unfortunately that's not the way it works, a DVD player will usually only read a certain format of video and it has to be laid out in a very specific way on the disc. When it is in the correct format it is called a video DVD when it is just an mp4 file or other files (documents or whatever) then it is called a data DVD. Depending on the length of the movie you can probably fit the whole thing onto a dvd5 (single layer) without losing quality but you need to do it through a program like nero (windows) or toast (mac). Select the option that allows you to make a video DVD and the program (assuming it has the correct codecs to be able to read your video file) will create the vob files for you and arrange them on the disk in the correct way.

EDIT: Lossless (no loss of quality) conversion is possible, I do it every day. If you are coming from an HD file though then it will lose quality going to SD (standard definition), or if the video is particularly long then the 'bitrate' (amount of data required to make a second of video) will have to be reduced and you will lose quality. Part of the problem you will find is that most SD videos on the internet are 525i/p at best whereas a UK DVD player will e 625i... The video's may well look better on your computer screen than it will on your TV set (even if you were using the TV set as a monitor for the computer) because of how much better the processing is in a computer graphics card than on a TV set. Either way, you need to download Nero or Toast or some other 3rd party software.

Answer
"Better" is very vague. If you are referring to hardware quality, it's not. Asus, Toshiba, and Sony have fewer failure rates than Apple computers. Software wise, OSX is easier to use, but can be limiting. Honestly, it's really meant for the average user to do typical day-to-day average user stuff (e-mail, photos, music, etc.). If you want to actually get some work done, you need a PC. Everything in the Apple world is meant to flow together seamlessly. It's possible because Apple has to approve every PC software that comes out. This is good for stability, but bad for the open source community who often pump out hundreds of software titles per month for Windows and other OSes. You can find a program on Windows or Linux for just about anything, from several different sources. Another bad thing about Apple is that you have to pay out the ass for just about everything. Also, so many people think they are incapable of getting virus. This is ridiculous beliefs coming from Apple fanboys who don't really know anything about computers in general. Just off the top of my head I can remember security holes in Safari that allowed an attacker to take complete control of the victim's computer, several iPhone security problems as well as hardware problems, and too many to care to list. If there was no threat then Best Buy wouldn't sell Norton Antivirus for Mac.

So it's pretty difficult to say which is "better" since they are meant for different things to those who aren't average users. If you just want a simple computer that just works and have cash to burn, go with Apple. If you want more flexibility and compatibility, go with PC.

One last thing. Apple PCs aren't "better" for photos and videos and such. They just come better prepared to handle that type of stuff (better quality screens mostly and integrated photo/video editing software). You can easily go out and buy a PC with a better monitor and use free open source software like GIMP or PAINT.NET which is more powerful than the built in Apple software.

What is the best laptop I can buy for £600 it will be used for video and photo editing as well as COD4?

Help... hp are buying back my dv6331ea as I've had the mother board replaced 3 times and this last time it came back with a new fault.

Answer
when it comes to video and audio editing, you have to pay careful attention to the processor speed and the amount of ram you have. if you don't have enough, it will screw up your editing with sound that's out of sync and choppy frame rate. you can't really get a top of the line with your budget, but you can get still get a good deal if you know what to watch out for.

It's a myth that macs are better than PCs, macs run on intel processors now and if you power up a PC to the same level as a mac, you will have the same performance. maybe not the same image that comes with owning a mac, but same performance.

Hi!
For History we were asked to make a video documentary on the Nazis. I was wondering if there were any softwares apart from Youtube or OneTrueMedia that could edit your videos.
I wanted to add music and titles, and make it look like an old version etc.

Thank You!

Answer
Photobucket is a great web based and FREE editing tools. The software behind it comes from Adobe who make some of the best commercial ($$$) photo and video editors. Also check out Jaycut which allows you to export and save your videos! If you need/want more features downloading VideoSpin, VideoPad or VideoThang are great options. Still free, but you have to download the software. For under $100 you can buy Adobe Premiere Elements.

Is there any easy software to convert a video file to a burned DVD?

Mr. Spin

So many people like my home-family DVDs, they ask me how they can do it too.

Unfortunately for them, they get lost within a few minutes of me describing all of the editing tools, software, codecs, hardware and connections.

I wish I could direct my friends to a simple software program.

It would be nice to have a software program that converts virtually any video file to a burned DVD without the loss of sound, lip-syncing and all of those other known bugs.

I know NERO has a built-in video transfer program like this, but it is really crap in the long run.

With all of this said, I think that the camcorder, like the digital camera, is going to be a whole generation of "lost pictures and movies". Too many people are too lazy to process the video, just like they are too lazy to print digital pictures at a real photo store. A piece of everyone's history will be lost forever.

Why do creative people prefer using a Mac over a Windows? This includes film editing, music, graphic designs etc. What advantages do a Mac have over Windows?

Answer
Mac software is much better for video and music than Windows software. According to an SCRI study, Final Cut Pro users make up 49% of the US professional video editing market, with Avid Media Composer users at a distant second place 22%.

Also, the Mac system is much easier to navigate and to use key-combinations to do work than Windows. The result is more work can be produced in less time.

In the early days of personal computer design, there were two major competitors: IBM and Apple. You can surely guess that IBM was most focused on conservative business offices, while Apple was focused on publishing, photography, video editing, and graphic design. All of these were fields ignored by IBM.

Another important consideration is that the Mac hardware actually produces better images on screen. Anyone who looks closely at a Mac screen next to a PC screen can see this. All those hackintoshes lack Quartz Extreme and Core image. Apple screens have higher pixel density than other brands (see link below--comparison should be for same size screen). This makes for sharper images with better color tone. My pro photo magazines have toolbox charts for each pro photographer who is featured. As I catalog their preferences for one year, I find 85% use Mac.

Are you asking this to get negative opinions about creative people who use Mac OS or to find the real reason? If you are not involved in some "creative" field, why ask? If you are, and want to make a decision, do it based on your own eyes and testing in person at a computer shop. Imagine buying an expensive camera based only on others opinions. Hands-on testing tells you more than others opinions.

Is the RootsMagic genealogy program designed only for PC use or will it also work with a Mac computer?

Amaretta

Does it require Windows software?

Answer
RootsMagic is a Windows program and will not run natively on a Mac. However many Mac users run RootsMagic using Windows emulators on their Mac. A Windows emulator lets you run Windows and Windows programs on your Mac. Probably the most popular emulators are Parallels and Fusion which will let you run RootsMagic in a Windows window at the same time as your Mac programs (no having to reboot). http://support.rootsmagic.com/KB/a21/will-rootsmagic-run-on-a-mac-apple.aspx

Family Tree Maker for Mac â Itâs Back
April 28, 2010 by admin ⢠Leave a Comment
Ancestry.com has officially announced today that they are bringing Family Tree Maker 2010 to Mac OS X. Yes, Family Tree Maker is going to once again grace Appleâs Macintosh lineup, only this time the OS is Unix-based and Family Tree Maker is not being published by Broderbund. Itâs been over a decade since a version of Family Tree Maker built specifically for the Mac has graced our hard drives. I would like to pretend shock and surprise, but I was tipped off to this prior to today. I will admit I was only slightly skeptical, due to Ancestry.comâs Tree-to-Go software for the iPhone/iPad. All that can be said for now is that it will be available later this year and itâll be built on the functionality of Family Tree Maker 2010. http://www.macgenealogy.org/tag/family-tâ¦

Is there a loss of quality when using Final Cut Pro for AVCHD videos?

video editing software like final cut pro image

Mael

Hi, I have a Sony HDR-TG1 and a Macbook Pro. I am looking for a good video editing software that will allow me to work with my camera's AVCHD format. I have read a lot of things about Final Cut Pro and how it doesn't support AVCHD without conversion. I was wondering if there is a loss of quality that arises from the conversion or if the video is just as good?

If the video quality isn't as good, can you please recommend a different program for me to use?
Thanks!

Answer
Any conversion reduces quality, its just a fact! its always better to edit the video in its original format, AVCHD is a nightmare, highly compressed, when you try to edit it, your computer will have to do a lot of work, secondly what medium are you going to use to play it back. posting on youtube quality is not an issue because by the time they have compressed your video, the quality will not be that good. putting onto DVD then you dont need HD, you cannot play hd video on a DVD, the last two options are Bluray and playback from your computer.

There is nothing wrong with FCP, Personally I use Adobe CS5, I have used adobe products for years, so I stick with them

Video editing software similar to Final Cut Pro?

elmanmasra

I've been using Final Cut Pro in a friend's house and liked it a lot because of its various options. I'm planning on purchasing a video editing tool similar to Final Cut Pro but for Windows since I don't own a Mac (and don't plan on buying one). Any ideas? I've heard of Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro. I've actually used the latter and it seems cool to me, but I'm not so sure.

Answer
Free download the trial version: Adobe After Effects

Sony Vegas:

You'd better get a total video converter. If you can't import some special video formats into the video editing software, directly change the format with this video converter.

Hope it helps!
