What's a good software to download for editing videos?

I know this is hard to find but I need something free and don't need anything fancy I just need to be able to make my clips go from one clip to another so basically from one take to another as usual videos do. It doesn't have to be for beginners or experts it doesn't matter but a few special effect things wouldn't hurt:) like I said I don't need anything extravagant. It would be nice if it doesn't slow down or put viruses on my computer as well lol, thanks:)

One with an easy Learning curve, that being PS and the other one with unlimited timelines and effects that are harder to use.

Make sure, before you do this, to make sure your computer can meet or exceed those Specs above, and pay special attention to the AVCHD specs if you have or are going to get a HD camcorder.


A laptop running these Programs, when rendering say a 10 minute Video out, be prepared, render times could leave your laptop useless, while rendering for 4 or 5 days on that file. Besides you cannot upgrade a Laptop this way, so it unlikely these program will run on most Laptops.

I am currently using windows movie maker. Are there any other good free video editing software out there??

These two programs are light years ahead of Windows Movie Maker, in Video Editing Abilities. Takes a bit of work, but they are free.
