I would like to get an editing software like the MacBook's ($999) which i was looking to get, but way outta my price range.
my price range is around $400.
And for editing videos.
But i thought the MacBook comes with a free video editing program?

Answer
good luck rendering videos with a computer thats under $400. i strongly suggest saving up more money. save up enough money to buy a computer with an Intel i5 proccesor atleast if you want to do videos editing.

if you dont want to do that then make absolutly sure that the computer you get has a dual core proccessor. Intel processor are generally better than AMD. go for atleast 4Gb of RAM. and i would suggest buying an external hard drive to hold all the videos, cause in your $$ range the harddrive will fill up FAST.

As for a program for editing there are plenty of free softwares that any Windows computer can download off the internet. i would suggest asking which one is the best under the computers>software section of Yahoo answers.

How to transfere video shots fom camera tape to computer?

I have a panasonic digital camera model NV-GS11 and want to know how to transfere video shots from the camera tape to the computer

Answer
Hi Essam:

The Panasonic camcorder you have (NV-GS11) is a Mini-DV cassette model using FireWire (IEEE 1394 "DV" port) for digital video output. So for transferring the digital signal to computer, you need a FireWire port on the PC.

From a couple of your earlier Yahoo!Answer posts, you've mentioned having a Dell Inspiron 1000 laptop (the past 5-8 years), which does not have FireWire built-in. But that laptop does have a PC-Card accessory slot, which can accept a FireWire card (typically $15-$50 USD online or on eBay).

If you have a newer laptop or computer, it might already have FireWire capability; if not, then a simple FireWire accessory upgrade will be necessary to best transfer your tapes to computer.

Read the Wikipedia article listed in my Sources below, so that you know the proper cable type to use between the camcorder and your PC. (A FireWire 4-pin plug at one end is needed for the camera connection; the other end will either be 4-pin or 6-pin, depending on the PC's port or adapter card.)

As far as video editing & transfer software, your Windows XP came with "Windows Movie Maker", which can be used along with the FireWire interface to import and edit your videotapes. Other editing software (Sony Vegas, AVID Pinnacle Studio, Adobe Premiere, etc.) is also available for this task.

hope this helps,
