Free video editing software?

I want a really good video editing software thats free. Not one that you have to pay for but can get free with a keygen. I want a genuine free software thats both easy to use and can provide top of the line effects. It has to be free though.
P.S. I'm running windows vista

Check out trakAxPC Pro. It's a new editing suite that allows you to edit and mix any combination of audio, video and photos. You can do effects, text, split screen, reverse, slow-motion etc, plus upload your video directly to YouTube through the application. There is a free lite version and paid pro version available.

Q. I dont know how.. But like, i screwed up with the keygen when i was like so close & now i cant use sony vegas.. so i need something else that was just as good... I want to be able to do effects, and etc, etc. So, does anyone know something good? (I need it to make amv's for youtube..) (:

I use MPEG Video Wizard DVD, a great video editing program. It allows me to edit video, auto-detect and remove commercials, add effects (transitions and filters), fix a/v sync problems, make DVD discs and much much more.
