Video Editing Program?

stitch5991

So I have a Spanish project coming up, in which we have to create a news segment. I'm looking for a free video editing program (like Windows Movie Maker, but better and more complex) because I want it to look good. Can you recommend any good programs for a Windows 7 64-bit laptop?

Answer
I don't think you would want to spend a lot of money just for a school project. Aside from the Windows Movie Maker, here are a few free video editing programs that you can try:

Wax -- a high performance and flexible free video editing software program. Wax is good for both home users and professionals.
http://www.debugmode.com/wax/

Zwei-Stein -- a great free video editing software, but the user interface is very technical. It is full featured, offering many different effects.
http://www.thugsatbay.com/tab/?q=zweistein

Avidemux -- a free video editor designed for simple cutting, filtering and encoding tasks. You can trim, add filters and even encode video. You can remove the audio portion of a video file, or remove the video portion and retain the audio part, among others.
http://avidemux.sourceforge.net/

VideoSpin -- editing features include transitions, sound effects and cool titles. You can create scrolling titles, a feature usually found only in expensive software programs. If youâre editing video with the intention of uploading it to video file sharing sites like Yahoo Videos and YouTube, VideoSpin allows you to do that.

I want to start making singing covers on youtube, I have everything i need. I have a laptop, professional condenser mic, professional speakers, an audio interface and a camera. I just need to the software that can edit the audio in my videos and something to put the instrumental on. Is there anything for free that i can download? Heres a like to something really similiar to what im talking about.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uT5uJUAtkLE
I am not sure how he recorded a video and audio at the same time..
Please help me, this is a serious question. Thank you!

Answer
I just happen to be one of those guys that makes dance music. There are many loop holes to doing this. I run on Linux so I don't know what new software is available on mac or windows other than your music making software and recording. I use a ton of alternate routes before my sound gets to my computer so I admire that you are using physical gear :).
The most common way of pulling this off is to rip the audio from the video, do what you need to, to make it awesome in your own way, and then import it back into the video amd matching everything up. I am all about sound effects and so what could make things sound cool is to copy the video before you rip it and put it to the side. rip the other copy, do your thing, and then import the audio to overlap the original, or just mute the video. you can do this will almost any kind of video make, editing software; Windows Live Movie Maker is a good one to start out with and it should be free.

Good Luck!

Answer
I am going to assume that you are wanting to capture a gaming video (e.g. Call of Duty MW 2, Blackops, Halo, etc). So, you need a gaming computer.
A good, high-end gaming computer will be also capable of letting you edit videos smoothly, since gaming computers already have a great graphics card to enable smooth flow of video editing.

So you are looking at a gaming computers. Here are links for several online stores to look for a good computer:
www.ncix.com
www.newegg.com or .ca
www.dell.com or .ca

What Laptop is Best for Video Editing?

Sir_Knows_

I'm becoming more and more interested in video editing, so I personally would like to get a laptop(no matter what the price) that would both perform great for video editing and also for everyday needs(internet and typing). Any brand of laptop would be great! Thanks!

Answer
Buying a laptop is a complicated decision which will probably affect you daily for the next few years.

In addition to price and specs, you want to consider things such as ease-of-use, speed, reliability, stylish-design and tech-support.

Different people would have different opinions.

Therefore, I would recommend you to check ProCompare.com (http://www.procompare.com/top/Notebooks). They have a recommendation engine that ranks laptops and other tech products based on ratings and reviews from a community of trusted IT professionals. They also have a cool personalization slider that lets you personalize the results based on the criteria that are most important to YOU.

Hope you'll find this answer useful...

My brother is a professional photographer. I intend to give him a laptop that he can use for his work. He also does a lot of video editing. No necessary price limit. If you could please suggest one from mac and one thats a PC. Thanks!

Additional Info:
My brother has an Adobe suite software. Im not really sure what its called but that's the one he uses for photo and video editing.

Answer
It really doesn't matter, but a lot of people say a mac book, I would suggest a laptop with a big screen, maybe a 17" and one that has a blu ray player.

this one is good

That software your brother is using is probably Adobe Photoshop

Answer
I have used a few video editing programs and the easiest one has been DVD Slideshow Builder. Very easy to use with professional features and same sort of layout as Movie Maker however a lot more powerful,it goes well with windows 7.
