I want somthing that can play a soundtrack in the background (without song lyrics), speed up/slow down clips, trim clips, and place clips together to make a movie. I want to make a youtube channel and I need a good editor that I can download to do that:) any suggestions???

Answer
Here's a list of some of the free ones:

Windows Movie Maker -- WMM is already installed on computers that are running Windows XP and Vista. But if you have Vista or 7, you can use the latest version:

You may add 3rd party effects that don't come with the WLMM with this:

VirtualDub -- may lack the editing power of a general-purpose editor such as Adobe Premiere, but is streamlined for fast linear operations over video. You can take a captured clip, trim the ends, clean up some of the noise, convert it to the proper frame size, and write out a better one. Remove and replace audio tracks without touching the video. It has extensive video filter set, including blur, sharpen, emboss, smooth, 3x3 convolution, flip, resize rotate, brightness/contrast, levels, deinterlace, and threshold.

Avidemux -- a free video editor designed for simple cutting, filtering and encoding tasks. Trim, add filters and even encode video. You can remove the audio portion of a video file, or remove the video portion and retain the audio part, among others. You can even reformat and resize your videos. It's a great and effective free video editing software for those who havenât obtained much, if any, experience in video editing.

Blender -- a 3D graphics video creation program which hosts a variety of features. These include modeling, animation, rendering, post-production and real-time interactive 3D, as well as game creation.

Zwei-Stein -- a great free video editing software, but the user interface is very technical. It is full featured, offering many different effects. There are up to 64 effects, which can be chained serially.

Wax -- a high performance and flexible free video editing software program, good for both home users and professionals. It can create 2D & 3D special effects and can work in two modes - as a standalone application which would appeal for home users/beginners, and as a "plug-in" to video editors/NLEs which would be more useful for professional editors.

VSDC Free Video Editor -- It's the only free advanced video editor with chroma key editing, and even split screen editing. With a full support for dozens of video codecs and formats including but not limiting to AVI, MP4, MKV, MPG, WMV, 3GP, FLV for video; MP3, WAV, WMA, FLAC, PCM, OGG, AAC, M4A, AMR for audio; and BMP, JPG, PNG, PSD, ICO, TIFF for images, VSDC Free Video Editor provides one of the easiest ways to combine multiple source chunks in different formats into a resulting high-quality video.

Are you familiar with those green compositing stuff that you hear in the movie editing world? This software can do that. Here's a sample of what it can do:

Note that this software is free but comes with a stupid 'Conduit Toolbar' it is trying to promote. It gets installed on your browser. You can easily remove that toolbar by going to Control Panel ⺠Uninstall a Program. select 'Conduit Toolbar' from the list of currently installed programs, and uninstall. Next, if you are using Mozilla Firefox, click the Firefox menu ⺠Add-Ons ⺠Extensions tab. Find and click on Conduit Toolbar and select Remove. Restart your browser afterwards.

Do you know any video editing software and where I can download it?
