I was wondering if Mobile Intel® HD Graphics in my Toshiba Satellite M645 would be compatible with fallout: new vegas. I don't want to waste money on a game that wont work. I think the most recent games with high graphics card requirements i have that will run are Starcraft 2 and Demigod, if that helps at all.

Answer
hi nicolas
allthough the mobile intel HD graphics are onboard which are normally associated with sub standard performance the latest series of these HDgraphics are not totally bad however they are still not good enough for games like starcraft 2 and demigod
the problem when buying laptops for gaming is unless your willing to pay in excess of £1500 for a alienware m17x your not going to be able to run the latest games at decent detail and resolution
however ive looked at your laptop at http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/15/toshiba-satellite-m645-boasts-nvidia-optimus-and-improved-aesthe/ and it looks a pretty good laptop as laptops go..... and from the review you should have either a mobile GTS250 (17" version) or a GT330M with the 14" version.... the intel HD graphics are intergrated to the cpu so the other graphics will be part of the mainboard
what some manufactuers do is have two sets of graphics... the intel HD would be used for everyday use such as web browsing and the other intergrated graphics would be used for gaming and video editing however if you dont know how to enable to other graphics then you would continue to use the intel HD ...............check your laptop manual and see if theres any other intergrated graphics....
failing that then your best bet is to visit http://cyri.systemrequirementslab.com/CYRI/ .then select the game from the drop down box.... then click the "can you run it " button...this will then scan your laptop or pc and then show a report... it will show if your laptop/pc can run it at either :
1)minimum .... this is when you can run the game at its lowest settings...still playable but wont look as good ..............and
2)recommended .......this is the way the game should look and will run very well... allthough you can still run the game at minimum its allways best to go for recommended(also called optimal )
i hope this has helped nicolas however any problems let me know
good luck mate !

Planning to get the Imac or macbook?

I'm planning to get an apple computer in 2010 when they launch new products but I don't know which one to get. I'm going to use the computer for mostly simple tasks like email, internet, listening to music, and viewing and editing photos with photoshop. I still can't decide if I want to sacrifice portability or stationary. I was also wondering if the graphics is necessary for photos, I know for games it is but not sure for photos. Any ideas or suggestions?

Answer
You don't need any sort of advanced graphics card for photos and video, just for games and extended video editing (like HD video etc)...

The iMac should really be compared to the 13" MacBook Pro rather than the MacBook. The entry level 21.5" iMac is the same price and the entry level MacBook Pro, and they share the same design and stuff...

The MacBook Pro would have more than enough power for all the stuff you want to do, so that's not an issue. I suppose it comes down to the design and screen size...

Personally, I'd get the laptop and a monitor... That way you get the best of both worlds... You will regret not being able to take your computer on holiday, sit down on the sofa with it etc... And it's always good for showing the family photos and video of trips and stuff...
