What is a good video editing program for Macs (with a free trial/download)?

I have a Macbook that I purchased in 2007. The default video editing software is iMovie HD. However, I don't really like it. Are there any good editing programs for Macs? And can I get a free trial? I would love to use Sony Vegas or something like that, but those programs just aren't compatible with Macs.

Adobe premiere is now compatible with Mac, or if you want a genuine Mac program go for Final Cut Studio. I use premiere but I'm a PC user. Some ppl have found Final Cut Studio somewhat difficult to use.
