I am looking for some good video editing software, other than Sony Vegas.

Adobe After Effect CS5, But you have to have a 64-bit computer which are very common now with windows 7.After effects Has Got to be (Hands Down) The BEST editing software to date.
im pretty sure you can find a full version for free on the internet, but dont think that i am suggesting that......xD

I am currently using windows movie maker. Are there any other good free video editing software out there??

These two programs are light years ahead of Windows Movie Maker, in Video Editing Abilities. Takes a bit of work, but they are free.

A laptop running these Programs, when rendering say a 10 minute Video out, be prepared, render times could leave your laptop useless, while rendering for 4 or 5 days on that file. Besides you cannot upgrade a Laptop this way, so it unlikely these program will run on most Laptops.
