-The Sims 3+ other games

I need a new laptop. Mostly just for word processing, spreadsheets, and e-mail (NO video games, video editing, etc). I just want something that is reliable and will last a long time.

I would like to spend around $500. A PC is fine, don't need a Mac.

What are some good brands? What brands are the most reliable? Also, what system specification requirements should I look for? Any other tips?

For that much money you should check to see if anybody in town sells used laptops that have been reconditioned. You might be able to find an "Acer" for that price. For my money though HP still makes the best laptops.
