Simple Video editing software?

Cheese

Sony vegas 11 is way to complex. and i can not find a good tutorial on it. So if anyone has a good, simple software for basic editing. not windows movie maker either.

Answer
The video editing software with story board may fit for you. For example, iMovie, but it is for Mac only.

Avid media composer, Adobe Premiere are quite professional. I think Pinnacle Studio HD and Corel VideoStudio Pro would be simpler comparing to Adobe PPr and Sony Vegas.

The above are for adding special effects to your video. If you just like to trim/cut the video, and the format is supported by quicktime, you can get quicktime to cut videos. QuickTime Pro seems to support basic editing.

AVS video editing software?

Michael

so i need a new editing software, since my Windows Movie Maker does not support Quicktime format. I downloaded a free trial version of AVS video editor, and it is great.

I have decided that i am going to buy it, but i ran into a little problem. I found another AVS website, so i don't know which website to buy the software from.
one is http://www.avs4you.com/Register.aspx
and the other is http://www.avsmedia.com/VideoEditor/index.aspx
both websites look legit, but i don't want to risk buying the video editing software from a "fake" website.

at the AVS4you website, its $59 for unlimited acces, and $39 for only one year access.

at the AVS Media website, they say it is $39.95 for unlimited access, but i don't want to buy it from there for fear that there might be something hidden, like it turns out to only be a one year access like the other website says, and i dont want that. i want unlimited access.

so you see i am confused. which website do i buy the software from?

ok well i am for sure going with one of the AVS softwares because it has the option to make your own DVD menu and a lot more better features than even Apple's iMovie or whatever its called. i still need to know which of the above websites to buy AVS from

Answer
Whoa, Michael!

Hold on a second.

Do you really want to go and spend money on video editing software when there are so many other, free tools out there you could try?

1) Wax
A free tool with powerful editing and compositing abilities.

2) Video Spin
Video Spin is the free video editing tool from Avid.

3) T@B ZS4
T2B ZS4 is a free video editing and compositing tool from Zwei-Stein. Its not for everyone, but it could be for you.

4) Vivia
Vivia is a basic editing software which is currently being developed and is in Beta testing. If you are using Linux or Windows you might want to check this out

5) Jahshaka
Jahshaka is a free multi-use offline editing tool. Although it is still fairly new on the market.

6) Avidemux
One of the more stable and complete free tools available.

7) Blender
Blender is a powerful, multi-use editing/compositing and modeling tool. It's one of the best on the market and it's free.

8) DVD-Flick - A complete set of tools for creating and burning DVD's

Did I mention that all the above tools are free?

I would spend some time trying these out before you shell out your hard earned money on a commercial suite of tools.

Information about these and more can be found on this website

Hope this helps
