Answer
Here are the answers to all your questions:

#1 - There are no good laptops under $600. Or desktops either. They're all crap and will run slow right out of the box; plus you're looking to edit video and the best laptops/desktops for video are Macs, simply because the software is way better and easier to use. If you don't know anything about video editing yet, and try to use one of those Windows video editing programs, you'll just end up getting pissed off at the thing not working right and probably quit right there.

#2 - If you're shooting in daylight, and you're on a budget, you should have no problems with even the cheapest handi-cams these days. Look around for a good deal and grab one. If you want to shoot at night and you want it to look good, then you've gotta get somethnig with a decent lens and that will cost you upwards of a grand, but it doesn't sound like you're looking to pay that kind of money.

#3 - For beginners: iMovie (comes free with every Mac). For more advanced, Final Cut Pro for the Mac (sold separately).

#4 - There's about 10 different places in Colorado that I love to go to. I ride either a Custom X or a Lib Tech skate banana, depending on which friends I'm going with and what I plan to do when I get there.

Good luck.
