What is a good laptop for video editing and gaming?

Kaz

I'm with a budget of $200-$300. Thanks.
I need it to be under $400. I'll be editing 1-10 minute videos. And I'm looking to play games like halo 3 and fallout.
The acer aspise one is a good net book for $299 at Best Buy. Could it run games like those and edit short videos? Is it a good choice?

Answer
I think this is unrealistic.
Unless you build it from scratch, and get very lucky finding very cheap parts, you cannot find a 'good laptop' for video editing and gaming for less than $1000 US Dollars.

If you really have the goal of video editing and gaming, you need to look at a mid-range to high-end workstation. If your video editing is low-resolution 30 second video, maybe you can go lower.. if you also don't need any games made in the last 2 years, maybe you could get away with a $700 laptop.

Basically, any "good" gaming & video editing system should include as much memory as possible ( 4GB or more), and a mid-range to high end video card. For a home workstation, you might find 4GB and last year's 'good' video cards on sale for $200-300.
You still need to get an operating system, a fast hard drive ( or 2, or 3) the software you are going to use, and a working display.
